This RP will be an "Open world" survival based RP. It's more of a game than a story, so have fun with this one!

 

Back Story: Oh no! You're OC has suddenly appeared in the "Other Realm". A dark and harsh plane of existence that is inhabited by ponies just like you. Here in the Other Realm, the sky is black 24/7, strange floating white crystals that glow are the only source of light (these crystals are scattered about the sky randomly throughout the Other Realm), entire cities and kingdoms appear to be abandoned (leaving sprawling cities and kingdoms empty, but the buildings in perfect condition, the candles perpetually lit, the food always fresh and replaced when you're not looking, the water cool, clean, and refreshing.), and the only other ponies there are just like you, scared, trapped, alone, and trying to both survive, and find a way out. You don't remember how you got here, but one thing is for certain: that saddle bag on your back is not yours, and neither are it's contents.

 

Rules of RP:

  1. Before posting in the RP thread, I kindly request that you post a character Application (all APPS are auto accepted, but i would like them to be posted here for quick reference)
  2. Listen to the DM at all times. I'm not very strict but I would like to maintain a balance of power here.
  3. You May Carry only ONE weapon (Ammunition is unlimited, but reloading is necessary. You do not have to start with a weapon, and starting without one is preferred).
  4. Yes, you do get hungry, tired, hurt, and thirsty. (How much this affects you and when it must be tended to is up to the Player's discretion as long as it is within reason).
  5. Healing is done in the form of Sleeping and Eating.
  6. Players have the choice to form alliances but no more than 3 OC's may team up.
  7. Running from a battle with either a Player or an event spawned NPC (animal, ghost, etc.) will mean you MUST exit the area
  8. Enjoy!

Every Player's OC spawns with a saddlebag containing:

  • World Map (Please keep a copy of this saved somewhere as it will help to keep the RP organized and fun. View Spoiler Below)
  • Map of Grollmeth (Please keep a copy of this saved somewhere as it will help to keep the RP organized and fun. View Spoiler Below)
  • A candle (Candles can burn forever, thus never needing to replace it. To light it, you need to find a lighting source such as a fire, another lit candle in a building, matches in a cabinet, etc.)
  • Canteen

The Story takes place within the only known settlement of the Other Realm, Grollmeth. Each player may choose to spawn in any of the major cities. Travel outside of Grollmeth will only make the RP disorganized so doing so kills your OC. Below is a Guide to the locations within Grollmeth.

 

Locations Within Grollmeth:

 

Lighting Key:

Good - no need for a candle in the streets or indoors.

OK - no need for candles in doors, but outdoors it is necessary.

Bad - Candles necessary indoors and outdoors.

 

 

  • Mellshire: Largest city of Grollmeth. Medieval in design. Available weaponry consists of Long bows, Crossbows, Swords, Spears, and Maces. [Locations within Mellshire]:
  1. Mellshire Castle: An old fortified castle within Mellshire. [Lighting: Good]
  2. Slums: Large area of run down peasant homes. [Lighting: OK]
  3. Slums 2: Second area of run down peasant's homes. [Lighting: Bad]
  4. City Commons North: Large city that remains in excellent condition. [Lighting: Bad]
  5. City Commons South: Second area of large in-tact city. [Lighting: OK]
  6. Market Square: Major market area. Mostly consists of abandoned food stands and arms dealers.
  7. Mellshire wood: Small forest area accessible by dock. a few cottages can be found in excellent condition here. [Lighting: OK]
  8. Trade District North: north end of the city surrounding the long trade dock that leads out of Grollmeth. Most buildings are in poor condition. [Lighting: Bad]
  9. Trade District South: south end of the city surrounding the long trade dock that leads out of Grollmeth. Most buildings are in poor condition. [Lighting: Bad]
  • The Rubble: Small area of what used to be a mountain. All that remains is a bunch of tiny rocky islands. A few small cottages may be found in poor condition. [Lighting: Bad]
  • Grollshire: Smallest city within Grollmeth. Grollshire is the original kingdom of Grollmeth. Medieval in design.  Available weaponry consists of Long bows, Crossbows, Swords, Spears, and Maces. [Locations within Grollshire]:
  1. Market: Small area of shoppes and inns. Most buildings are in great condition. [Lighting: Good]
  2. Slums: Large area of run down peasant homes. [Lighting: Good]
  3. Slums 2: Second area of run down peasant's homes. [Lighting: OK]
  4. City Commons: Large city that remains in excellent condition. [Lighting: OK]
  5. Grollshire Wood: Small forest area accessible by dock. a few cottages can be found in excellent condition here. [Lighting: Bad]
  6. Grollshire Castle: an old fortified castle within Grollshire. [Lighting: Good]
  • Fever Coast: Second Largest city within Grollmeth. Pirates Era in design. Available Weaponry Consists of Knives, Sabers, Flintlock pistols, and Muskets. [Locations within Fever Coast]:
  1. Cape Fever: Large coastal area to the north that mostly consists of sandy beaches, a few sea side homes, and docked pirate ships. [Lighting: Bad]
  2. City Commons North: Large city that remains in excellent condition. [Lighting: OK]
  3. City Commons South: Second area of large in-tact city. [Lighting: OK]
  4. Market Place: Major market area. Mostly consists of abandoned food stands and arms dealers while featuring a few Inns and jail houses. [Lighting: Bad]
  5. Fever Wood: Small forest area accessible by dock. a few cottages can be found in excellent condition here. [Lighting: Bad]
  • Steel Road Commons: 3rd largest city within Grollmeth, and the most technologically advanced. early 1900's-esque in design. While the most advanced, sections of Steel Road Commons are tore to bits while the rest is in rather poor condition. Available Weaponry consists of Sabers, Revolvers, Bolt Action Rifles, and Lever Action Repeaters. [Locations within Steel Road Commons]:
  1. Slums: Large area of run down commoner homes. [Lighting: OK]
  2. Slums 2: Second area of run down commoner homes. [Lighting: Bad]
  3. Market Central: area of shoppes, inns, arms depots, and Jail Houses. Most buildings are in bad condition. [Lighting: OK]
  4. Blast Pit: Large destroyed area of crumbled buildings, dirty streams, small isolated fires, and trenches. [Lighting: Bad]
  5. Fort Steel: Large Fortified military complex that consists of armories, mess halls, barracks, and drill fields. Buildings are in excellent condition. [Lighting: Good]

we use a dice rolling system upon entering a new area:

1 = no event

2 = find food/water

3 = fight a ghost (east fight as long as you have light)

4 = fight an animal (Medium fight)

5 = find a new weapon (can choose to replace your old one or not)

6 = fight a doppelganger (hard fight)

 

Link to the dice roller (you are free to use any 6 sided die roller, but the one provided below is so that you don't have to search for one. If you have an ACTUAL 6 sided die you may use it.

Hello!?" Upon entering the home, Elixer notices the dampness of the air, and lights his candle with another candle burning on a candelabra in the corner of the room. (No event scenarios are great for sleeping, however in a no event scenario, that's about all you can do. there is no food or water present in the location when you roll a 1) Elixer goes up a small flight of stairs up onto a loft where a bed is seen sitting in the corner. "Man am I tired..." Elixer climbs into bed and sleeps off his ailments.

 

 

finding food and water:

 

Elixer enters a small, broken down, home within the southern trading district of Mellshire. (At this point, I roll a die. I rolled a 2.)"Hello, anypony home? Hello!?" Upon entering the home, Elixer finds a pot boiling in the fireplace with dimly lit coals burning out. Besides the pot, a small well is sitting, filled with water. "Wonder if I can eat that" Elixer checks the cabinets of the home and finds a bowl to eat from. He then fills his bowl with the contents of the pot, a stew of sorts, eats it and then fills the empty bowl with the water from the well and drinks it.(You can sleep in Food/Water events. Just imagine them as lucky 'No event' events.)Elixer goes up a small flight of stairs up onto a loft where a bed is seen sitting in the corner. "Man am I tired..." Elixer climbs into bed and sleeps off his ailments.

 

 

Fighting ghosts:

 

Elixer enters a small, broken down, home within the southern trading district of Mellshire. (At this point, I roll a die. I rolled a 3.)"Hello, anypony home? Hello!?" Upon entering the home, a ghost appears and all the candles inside go out. Elixer is without a light source for now. He draws his Sword, and strikes at the ghost. (How a battle turns out is really up to you. However, god mode-ing and making yourself invincible is generally frowned upon. Take a hit or two if the fight is easy. they don't have to be big hits. Medium fights, a couple hits, maybe 3, 1 bad one and 2 minor ones, and so on. After a battle you may sleep.)

 

 

Fighting Animals:

 

Elixer enters a small, broken down, home within the southern trading district of Mellshire. (At this point, I roll a die. I rolled a 4.)"Hello, anypony home? Hello!?" Upon entering the home, a large spider drops down from the ceiling and advances towards Elixer. (Then the fighting sequence begins. Sleeping afterwards is a good idea. Animals can be any animal other than a main species such as: pony, Griffin, etc. What type of animal is up to you and fights should go about accordingly to what type of animal you choose. You may eat any animal you slay if you wish.)

 

 

Finding a new weapon:

 

Elixer enters a small, broken down, home within the southern trading district of Mellshire. (At this point, I roll a die. I rolled a 5.)"Hello, anypony home? Hello!?" Upon entering the home, Elixer notices the dampness of the air, and lights his candle with another candle burning on a candelabra in the corner of the room. "I wonder if there's anything useful here." Elixer checks the cabinets within the home and finds a dagger. (If you have no weapon, typically it is advised that you would take any weapons provided. If you already have a weapon you wish to keep or that is better, you would go on about how your OC leaves the dagger alone. If you wish to replace your weapon, you would go on about how your OC replaces the weapon. You may sleep during these events.) 

 

 

Fighting a Doppelganger:

 

Elixer enters a small, broken down, home within the southern trading district of Mellshire. (At this point, I roll a die. I rolled a 6.)"Hello, anypony home? Hello!?" Upon entering the home, Elixer feels a sudden chill up his spine. (these dramatic moments are not necessary, but in the presence of a doppelganger, which is a shadow clone of you, that fights like you, sounds like you, and looks like you.) He notices a figure sitting in the dark corner of the room, away from a the light of a candelabra near by. He readies his sword and slowly approches the doppelganger. The doppelganger than turns about quickly drawing a sword of its own, and the two clash swords. (Then you go about the fighting. Afterwards you may sleep and it is highly advised for a battle like this.)

I was going to implement a dice rolling system like DND where every time you enter a new room, you roll a die and it will determine the events upon entering a new location.

 

How does everyone else fare on this? I can provide a dice rolling machine thingy from online.

 

Also you do not HAVE to start with a weapon, and I encourage you to start out without one to enrich the hunting and gathering feel to it.

 

If we include the dice rolling upon entering a new area:

1 = no event

2 = find food/water

3 = fight a ghost (east fight as long as you have light)

4 = fight an animal (Medium fight)

5 = find a new weapon (can choose to replace your old one or not)

6 = fight a doppelganger (hard fight)

There are currently 7 of us, so I'm looking for a majority vote with the dice rolling. I won;t start the RP til i get either a yay or neigh.

We shouldnt be too hasty to start yet since this seems like the kind of rp where we would need at least 9 people, I would stretch it to go as far as 12 though for more factions and fun.

 

Though if we do start soon, I still suggest leaving this page open for more people to join. This is a magic realm and ponies could be warped in anytime.

Are we allowed on the smaller island thingies around Grollmeth?

Also the streets look blue, is it like Venice where the streets are flooded? (This is probably obvious but I'll just double check.)

 

 

(Also the marketplace in Fever Coast has no lighting stats.)

No, that counts as leaving Grollmeth. the blue thingies are supposed to be canals, but lets pretend they are paved streets

Canteen is full and the dice, you roll. I provided a dice roller but any dice or die roller that is 1 six sided die of your choice is fine

Yeah, if it's a building with multiple locations, you can roll again to start another event. As a matter of fact, from now on, you should roll when going upstairs into bedrooms as well (in small 2 story houses).

Yeah, if it's a building with multiple locations, you can roll again to start another event. As a matter of fact, from now on, you should roll when going upstairs into bedrooms as well (in small 2 story houses).

Okay, I just put together a sort of soundtrack. This features a different theme for each area and for a few events. All of these tracks are by Sunn O))) so it's Ambient Metal and Drone Metal. Expect to hear music that to new listeners may be horrifying.

Can there be dungeons or something? Or if we're all together can we venture out of Grollmeth? It's just that I thought that the world map is going to be useful.

(And I'd like to go onto an epic quest as well :3 The whole thing taking place in a island.. city thing is just too small in my opinion.)

I made a world map because I planned on making multiple RP's within this universe. This one takes place in Grollmeth. I was also thinking I would try to implement a little more of a story element to this so that we have an objective. As to what the objective is, I have no clue. Suggestions would be lovely.
