[The Elusive Cinder 1,328]

 

As silver plunged into the pit, Cinder gasped. Redwave settled for thumping his head against a nearby tree.

 

"You would last all of ten seconds at sea..." He muttered under his breath before turning to his remaining companions. "If one of you ladies would be so kind as to assist them, I can hold the vine from this side. If we take it one at a time, we can rescue them each in turn."

Silver found himself plummeting downwards, he flapped his wings but found he'd lost all flight ability. He landed in the ditch with a crunch and a splatter of mud.

 

Lyona groaned, facehooving hard. -This is all going to be much harder now... It's going to take some time to drag three grown ponies out of a ditch.-

 

 

 

"If one of you ladies would be so kind as to assist them, I can hold the vine from this side. If we take it one at a time, we can rescue them each in turn."

 

She gave a part of the rope to Redwave, and gripped her own part of the rope firmly. " Minty's already attached. Let's pull!"

Silver picked himself up trying to ignore the pain in every limb... heck everypony else is so why not! he thought grumpily. Bunch of losers.

 

Glaring up at Redwave he retorted. "You wouldn't last ten second in the air... BUDDY!" he spat the last word out angrily. Silver flapped his wings, which hurt, but he was determined to anyway however he could get no lift. "Dang it why could I fly at first and not now?" Silver was getting angrier and angrier. "Just pull the damn rope" he yelled up at Redwave. "Can't you at least do one thing right!"

 

Exasperated, Silver turned to Minty and said "Why'd you have to go and fall in here for? STOP running off all the time" He stuck his nose under Minty and roughly pushed her part way up the slope, hoping the others would drag her the rest of the way and get her out of his way!

 

"What are you looking at" Silver snapped at Impetus.

 

Then a thought occured to him. "Somethings not right here... I'm not like this! Where has my encouragement gifting gone? What has this potion done to me?"

 

((OOC so a little drama with Silver in reverse mode. Probably similar to what everypony else experienced when they went grey.))

" Silver, calm down! Quit snapping at everypony. We'll get you out soon, don't worry." Lyona tugged at the rope as hard as she could, flapping her wings for extra strength. The pegasus scrunched her nose at the effort.

 

"Calm down? Says YOU who can't even keep her own group of soldiers in one place!" Silver couldn't seem to stop himself despite knowing in his mind what was going on. He tried covering his mouth with his hoof but the words still seemed to spill out. "Damn it why can't i control this?" He thought. "I was better off poison joked... I don't like myself like this!"

 

 

 

" C'mon, Redwave! You're an earth pony, you must be stronger than me. Pull!" 

 

"Earth head more like it. Can't fly, can't do magic... so ordinary! Who needs Earth ponies?"

 

Silver struggled inwardly "By the time this effect passes, everypony will hate me!" He thought miserably.

Lyona rolled her eyes, still flapping her wings as hard as she could. -Really, Silver? Now?-

 

She tugged at the rope again. " I know, I'm trying to, but y'all scatter every time I manage to! Remember when you ran off with Fireblaze? Just like that. Now, please stay quiet."

"After that last display I think I would last longer in the air than yourself. Now grow up and act like the soldier you keep telling us you are!." Red yelled back down to Silver before grasping the 'rope' and heaving backwards: it wasn't completely unlike raising a sail and he found the motion quite natural.

She tugged at the rope again. " I know, I'm trying to, but y'all scatter every time I manage to! Remember when you ran off with Fireblaze? Just like that. Now, please stay quiet."

 

"Yes well the company of a crazy pony is sometimes better than a bunch of incompetent losers! You can hardly blame me for that! Where is ol Fire anyway? I think I owe her a kiss....:"

 

The real Silver winced inside. Who was this other Silver that seemed to have taken over?

"Soldier? I have no interest in  being in the Royal Guard. Where is the profit in that? The pay is lousy and the uniforms aren't even that great. Who would want to serve under Shining Armor. He can't even get his love life right.? Forget you lot.. I'll find my own way out of this ditch. I'll show YOU whose incompetent.

 

Silver scrambled at the bank trying to find a foot hold. He beat his wings but wasn't able to make much headway.

 

"My wings won't be useless forever!" he reminded them with an angry tone.

"Maybe your wings won't..." Red grunted through the rope in his mouth as he helped lift Minty up out of the pit, gradually getting more frustrated with the pegasus' sudden change of personality.

 

'Somehow, I liked him more before...'

 

"What's gotten into you? Silver!" Cinder shouted.

 

"You mean besides all if the obvious things? Redwave replied.

Like a wounded bird Silver continued to fly up the slope til he felt exhausted.

 

"Whats gotten into me Cinder? Maybe it's your FRIEND Zecora and her poisons... I knew I shouldn't have trusted a mare like YOU. You can't even mix up a simple potion with out it exploding in your in competent face"

 

Ouch.. that one hurt Silver worst of all, yet he couldn't stop himself.How long would this last and would anypony understand after it had worn off. Why didn't anypony KNOW him? I hope you forgive me for that Cinder... he thought to himself.

Cinder should have been hurt, any other time she would have been, but something about her newfound confidence suppressed it.

 

'You see? Abandoned, just like I said. You don't need anypony else!'

 

She shuddered.

 

"What...?" The brown mare blinked, looking around.

 

"What did you just...? You know what? Just stay down there, I don't need you. We don't need you. Just sit there in your precious little world of hate you spiteful foal!"

 

She blinked a tear out of her eye as she grabbed the vine that Red was pulling and threw her weight behind it, pulling Minty a significant way and almost knocking the captain to the ground.

"What did you just...? You know what? Just stay down there, I don't need you. We don't need you. Just sit there in your precious little world of hate you spiteful foal!"

 

"FINE! I don't need a special somepony anyway!"  He yelled at Cinder. Then turned and glared at Impetus. "Stop gawking like a fool. Everypony else but her knew anyway!"

 

Silver went and sat with his back to everypony else, feeling internally miserable but appearing otherwise. A permanent scowl had appeared on his normal soft face.

"You're struggling to come up with these aren't you?" Cinder released the rope, grabbing Redwave's cutlass as he slid forward slightly with the sudden increase in strain.

 

"I don't have time for this. You two save these foals, I'm going to go do our jobs."

 

She threw her goggles onto the ground, flicked the bandoleer of potions around her neck again and strode towards the tree line, Red's sword hanging in one of the belts.

"What do I care...GO all of you. Just make sure you get this idiot out of MY ditch" Silver said, indicating Impetus 

 

 

"I don't need anypony else."

 

Silver flopped down in the mud scowling to himself.

 

Have I just lost the mare I love forever? His real self asked inside. Is there anypony out there who see's the real me?

 

((OOC looks like  he is staying in the ditch for the night as I'm going to bed. Night all))

'' I wonder what is happening to Silver Note, he probably can't stand Impetus anymore. I guess it goes all downhill from there.'' Fireblaze trots along, trying to ignore all of the crazy things that are happening with the group. '' Oh well, time for me to stay mentally sane.''

Impetus slams into Silver. "What the hay is wrong with you?!" he exclaims. "You're not the Silver we know and love - or, in the case of Yellowwave, know and somewhat dislike. Whatever."

 

"What's gotten into you, Silver Note?" Impetus says much more softly. "What's gotten into you...?"

With a heave, Redwave watched as Minty appeared over the edge of the Ditch, looking somewhat worse for wear.

"Thank the sisters, your okay!" He said heavily as he pulled her into a brief, slightly awkward hug before untangling the vine from her. The ditch must have been a lot deeper than he had anticipated because he was exhausted despite Minty not being particularly heavy at all.

 

"Impetus, If I lower one of these down to you, can you use it to climb? We can lift you, but you're going to be heavier than Minty and it's a long way up..."

Impetus sighs deeply. "I can do my best! Just hope that's enough." he grumbles. "But... I would appreciate it if you hurried up with the vine lowering. Silver the Grump over here is starting to get pretty darn irritating." Impetus looks, genuinely concerned, at Silver.

"I'm working on it... have some patience!"

 

Looping some of the twisted vines around the base of a nearby tree, Red threw the other side down into the ditch towards the voice.

 

"Can you see it? Grab hold, We can pull you up from here. Lets get you out of there before something else has a chance to go badly."

"Thanks, Redwave." Minty smiled, but then looking back down at Impetus. "Do you.. need a hoof?" Minty asked Impetus at the bottom of the ditch. She still stayed a bit far away, so she wouldn't fall in again. She stayed close to Redwave, though. "I.. I'm really sorry I left you at the hut." Minty said, scraping her hoof on the ground.

'' Oh no, somepony is in a ditch? I'd better stay out of the drama since, you guys aren't really doing anything horrible to each other.''

 

Trotting with the rest of the group, having a bit of a depressed look on her face. '' Well, I'd better stick to the mission so if anypony needs my help just call my name.''

"Think nothing if it, I could not simply leave you!" Redwave said, glancing over towards Minty - all the while wrapping the vines tighter around his hooves:

 

"Though I ask that you remind me to apologise to the Zebra for my actions. Are you alright? How are you feeling?"

Impetus grabs the rope, and giving Silver one last glance tugs on it not so gently twice to secure it. Then he wraps himself around the rope and begins inching his way slowly towards the top. "Thanks for the hand, Orangewave." he says, shaking himself off when he reaches the top.

Impetus slams into Silver. "What the hay is wrong with you?!" he exclaims. "You're not the Silver we know and love - or, in the case of Yellowwave, know and somewhat dislike. Whatever."

 

"What's gotten into you, Silver Note?" Impetus says much more softly. "What's gotten into you...?"

 

 

"Maybe I finally came to my senses and realized what a bunch of losers you all are! Just get OUT of my ditch!" he snapped at Impetus, then watched as Impetus was pulled out by Redwave.

 

"I'm staying here... the company and view in this ditch is far better than up there." With these final words as he slumped to the ground and spread his now useless wings on either side of himself refusing to look at any of the others. He felt dizzy and sick, his body still aching from the 'fall from grace' he seemed to have had.

 

 

The scream of a young filly was heard from the south. It echoed through the tree's hauntingly.

 

"Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

"Repay me? Oh no that won't be necesarry..." he started to say to Minty as Impetus was brought back onto solid land. "... Perhaps you might treat me to your company when we..."

 

He trailed off looking up into the sky

 

"That... Did not sound like one of our number. We should investigate, we may be needed... Though what would do with our 'friend' here?"
