(We're not doing elements, although I see how you could've gotten confused... You know the hearth's warming eve episode?)

 

 

The heart was fully solid now. It warmed Lyona, and she smiled. Time to power up my own... Lyona closed her eyes, and the mostly happy memories flashed behind her eyelids. Music and laughter filled her ears

 

It wasn't long before her own friendship heart formed. She looked up in awe, before reaching for it. When her hoof touched it, it felt pleasantly warm. Then suddenly, it wrapped around her hoof and slithered down to her wings and covered her wing-blades.

 

Lyona glanced at her wings, eyes wide. The former silver wing-blades were now glowing and much longer, more lethal. She flapped her wings once, and tiny flames flew from them. It's time to battle.

Closing her eyes despite everything that logic screamed was a terrible idea, Cinder recalled the time she had spend with her companions: 'Arguing with Silver and Redstorm, almost poisoning Lyona, losing so many of their number to the forest...'

 

Another voice sounded in her mind: the one that brought the shuddering, that told her to be strong, independent, alone.

'... growing close to new friends, swimming in the mirror pool, learning who you are...' It said uncharacteristically. '... Not letting fear or doubt compromise your bond...'

 

 

 

Since everyone else loves music, heres something more my style that feels very relevant to the situation.

Fireblaze starts to feel more powerful than ever, her fire abilities start to become stronger, as the heart starts to warm up her body. Melting the chains off of her hooves, standing on her four hooves. '' Let's do this everypony! Time to take him down, once and for all.''

(Her usual magic color has become the same as the heart, a pink-red. Don't fully kill Gmork just yet.)

 

Lyona grinned when she saw Fireblaze. Seems like the heart enhanced the stuff we use for defense. My wing-blades, Fireblaze's magic. 

 

With a strong flap of her wings, Lyona shot up into the air. She flew at Gmork, her wing-blades leaving deep wounds on the wolf, which did not heal.

Looking across at Gmork, grinning back at Lyona. Brushing her hoof against the ground, shooting a burst of fire at Gmork The fire left it's mark but, it didn't leave a scratch on him. '' I think we're going to need extra help to defeat Gmork. So, we need to combine our powers together.''

"Ma... Lyona, I cannot harm him!" Redwave shouted as the rock failed to make any meaningful impression on the spirit beast.

 

'They do not seriously believe that the power of friendship is going to help? Old fashioned steel is whats going to finish this...'

 

Flicking the sword upwards with his hoof and caching it in his mouth, he swung at another of the wolves: one that certainly wasn't immune to its edge. Flicking the blade into the air again he shouted to the group beside him.

 

"Good luck with that. I'll just be here. Fighting. With actual weapons."

" I am having good luck with it, thanks." Lyona called to Redwave, a smile on her face. Her friendship-enhanced wing-blades were doing damage to Gmork, but she couldn't handle him on her own. With every flap of her wings, little pink-red flames trailed behind.

" Good feelings, mainly bonds between ponies, weaken him. He does feed off hate after all. " 

 

  Hearing Lyona's words Silver Note finally understood. "Of course!" he said. "If we hate or feel negative we make him stronger,"

 

@,Silver turned to Cinderblock first. "I know you're not sure how you feel, but that's ok. Even as a close friend, you're still the best thing that's ever happened to me. And I'll always care deeply for you. Knowing you has made this whole trip worth it" Silver nuzzled her gently with his cheek. He wanted to kiss her, but decided not to. He wasn't sure what she was thinking and didn't want to be pushy. Instead he said. "Now I'm going to fight this battle my way.."

 

Silver took off into the air and hovered over Lyona.

 

@@LittleRawr,"Lyona, with out your leadership we'd never have made it this far. You've figured out the answer, and we will succeed on this mission because YOU have brought us through! I love you and respect you as our leader"

 

With out waiting for  reply he flew over to Fireblaze

 

@@Scootalove,"Fireblaze, You can be a little crazy sometimes,but I think that's what I like about you. You saved Minty from a  timberwolf and your bravery and loyalty is with out question. You know the place where he comes from and you're very underestimated at times. You're also kind of a good kisser" he added playfully "YOU can do this."

 

Silver flew over to Impetus. He had to think long and hard before he spoke.

 

@@Dark Horn,'Impetus, you're a member of the Royal Guard. I'm sure you joined because you love serving Equestria and protecting it from harm. You have strong integrity. Besides, we need to beat this thing so we can have that party I promised you." Silver winked at Impetus and flew over to Redwave.

 

@,"Redwave" he said. "Out of all the ponies here, you are the most able to defeat this foe. You're skilled with weapons and you're brave to the end. You have a strong loyalty to our group even to the point you'd rescue somepony you are completely at odds with at times. I'm pretty sure it's gone beyond you just wanting some reward. I know you're not the kind to run, and like me, you'd die defending other ponies. Now go GET that mutt!"

 

Silver landed near Minty.

 

@,"And you Minty, the kindest and strongest among us in that way. You defeat hate and confusion and being discorded, just by being exactly who you are.  A sweet tender mare...." he smiled at her before adding jokingly "Who smells a lot like mint"

 

Silver turned to the whole group and using his best encouragement voice he said.

 

"We can do this, because we all know that friendship really IS magic."

 

 Gmork howled in pain like  wounded puppy. He licked his wounds where Lyona had sliced him.

 

"No this can't be!" He growled in disbelief. "I can't be wounded...   I can't be defeated!" His voice echoed through the ruins as he ascended the stairs.

 

"Kill them" He ordered his timberwolves.

Minty looked up at this monster, Gmork, with a assertive look on her face. "So, it's been you all this time? You've been creating all this bad luck for our group and why all the animals in the Everfree acting strangely?" Minty asked, flying up so she can look eye to eye to Gmork.

'' You make a good point but, you will not win this time.'' Fireblaze goes after one of the timberwolves, running over to one of them, tackling the timberwolf down. Using her magic to burn one of the timberwolves, turning into a crispy yet dead wolf. '' Well, that was easy. Now, go for Gmork now!''

((are you going to give him the flutter stare down? LOL ))

 

 Gmork glared at her. "Get out of my way" he snarled, but he couldn't seem to break himself away from her stare...it somehow mesmerized him. He felt himself fade in to Equestria just a little more as accusing eyes dragged  him out of the 4th wall where he'd placed himself.

 

The timberwolves all hesitated,  instead of obeying Gmork, they seemed to be listening to the tree's, as if expecting something. Not one moved to attack a pony.

 

 "I wish I still had my instruments" Silver said sadly. "Wait a minute, he thought. "I still have one instrument... my voice!"

 

Breaking his vow to himself, Silver began flying in and out among them and encouraging them with his singing.

 

 

 

((OOC I love that song! It has such a metal feel to it. Right up your alley  think CS. ))

"Of course I am!" Redwave boasted, causing Cinder to facehoof briefly. "How it is that you only just came to realize this is beyond me."

 

"Kill them"

 

"Oh to the waves with you! You're not going to kill me any more than the last hundred foes who said those exact same words!"

'So... here we are. You were terrified of being alone. I knew it. You knew it. They probably all knew it as well. Now you're anything but alone. What's next? Are you going to lay down and die like he wants you to? Because your doing a pretty good job of that so far Cinderblock. You've found friends: more than ever. More than friends even...'

 

She smirked: not completely unlike Redwave did. She heaved herself back onto her hooves again, pulled the cloth bands over the bleeding bites and soon-to-be scars.

 

She smirked like she had finally realized something: like she knew the answer to a secret that nopony else did or like she had guessed the ending to a good book: like an experiment had gone perfectly (for once).

 

"You cant hurt me. I bet you cant even touch me!" She laughed, her voice brighter than it had sounded before. "You don't want to fight fair? Fine! Have it your way, but don't expect us to either!"

"Of course I am!" Redwave boasted, causing Cinder to facehoof briefly. "How it is that you only just came to realize this is beyond me."

 

  Silver Note rolled his eyes at Redwave. "Don't get too cocky kiddo"  He said from the air, still soaring in and out of the group.

 

He landed near Cinderblock and placed one wing over her back. 

 

 

 

"You cant hurt me. I bet you cant even touch me!" She laughed, her voice brighter than it had sounded before. "You don't want to fight fair? Fine! Have it your way, but don't expect us to either!"

 

 

"Care to take this on together?" Silver Note asked, extending his hoof for a potion with a smirk on his face.

 

 Gmork, still frozen under Minty's stare shouts "Wolves... obey!" but the timberwolves start to back up, cringing as if some unseen force were striking fear into them greater than Gmork himself could.

 

Three timber wolves turn and flee into the forest whimpering like puppies, the others stand frozen, listening, trembling, waiting..

She looked down at the rags that had once resembled belts: what few bottles remained were broken or empty.one remained: filled with the volatile black mixture she had improvised the day before.

 

She checked the last pouch on her leg: Another of the orange potions that she had used to ignite the smoke rolled about at the bottom. "What are you doing there?" She pondered aloud before turning to silver.

 

"Take your pick." She grinned, holding them both out to him.

"I would highly advise doing as the beautiful lady says: she's much more than she might appear:" Red suggested helpfully, dismembering another of the static Timber Wolves with a leisurely downward stroke mirroring the one which had failed to stop the one from assaulting Minty. This time, it didn't fail.

 

'Really? This antique is sharper than my cutlass? Well now that's just sad.'

As the vial flew through the air, Cinder counted off a couple if precious seconds in her mind before throwing her own: the glass cracked and the wave if force caused the black smog to start to billow outwards as shards of glass were set raining down around them.

 

Just a moment later though, the second vial shattered after hitting the wolf.

 

The still-expanding smoke took flame, curling in on itself in a brief inferno contained to the area directly around their target.

 

"Hah!" The earth mare yelled. "Take that!"

"Lyona, with out your leadership we'd never have made it this far. You've figured out the answer, and we will succeed on this mission because YOU have brought us through! I love you and respect you as our leader"

 

 

" A leader is only as good as her team." Lyona echoed the statement she had made just when the mission had started.

 

Lyona watched everypony attack Gmork, practically glowing with pride. Everypony has changed so much since the mission started... Changed for good.

 

After that thought, Lyona flew up above her group, a devious grin on her face. " My turn." With one great flap of her wings, the blades flew off. They hovered for a moment and then zoomed towards Gmork. They sliced the foe quickly, leaving scars all over his body.

 Gmork, yelped as the blades hit him. Frustrated and seeing possible defeat began to chant an evil spell. His very words striking fear into anypony who could hear him

 

'I'll bring you all down!" he growled threateningly. "You will pay! I refuse to be beaten."

 

Gmork raised his fore paws skywards chanting and calling on all the powers of darkness he could muster. He threw everything into the spell, even the very core of his inner being. He seemed to grow before them menacingly. His words brought forth everything he had thrown against them in the past but this time, all at once.

 

A thick acid fog began to form, a grey shadow fell over them threatening to rob them of all color and purpose.  Fear surrounded the group and echoed in their minds.

 

Even the timber wolves cowered down and whimpered. 

 

The forest seemed to darken under Gmorks evil spell, all the creatures of the forest howled louder than ever before as the terrible darkness surrounded them.

 

 Silver Note glanced over at Lyona as his mind filled with fears and doubts. The acid fog burning his coat and wings he cringed against it. He waited to see what Lyona's orders were.

"What new sorcery is th..." Red started to shout, before the acrid fog started to irritate his throat and make his eyes water. It was like the smoke from gunpowder: and he had always hated using the cannon.

 

Spluttering, he rubbed a foreleg against his eyes uselessly: the stuff was in the air, all around them. He couldn't just wipe it away.

 

 

Cinder grimaced: she had survived the worst of the fog the first time. She had somehow brought her other self under control. And now everything threatened to undo it all in one fell swoop.

 

"No... No... Not all of this, not now..." She muttered loudly.

" Don't let your fears get to you, everypony! You're all strong enough to get past anything, even this!" Lyona called out, before coughing. She glanced at Silver." We have to get everypony out. We won't survive long in this fog." Is there anything more that could go wrong? 

 

As if hearing Lyona's thoughts, the howls and screams of the animals grew louder, closer. Something batted Lyona hoof. She looked down to see the Manticore cub from before, unaffected by the fog. It told Lyona that it knew the way out.

 

(Lyona's special talent is taking care of feline animals and stuff, especially wildcats. Manticore's part feline, so she knows how to talk with it.)
