Is the lyrics to this song offensive to bronies?

Yeah, so somepony on a different forum who wanted to help record this song told me that this song was demeaning to bronies. Kepp in mind, this was originally not supposed to have anything to do with MLP. But I'm wondering, if I were to record it as is, would it be deemed offensive to bronies at all?

Here's the lyrics:

Outcasts

Everyone hates us

We're different from them

To them, we're the epitome of disgust

It's all because of them

It's all a mystery to me

We always get the blame

Why can't we live in harmony

And not in shame

Why can't everyone see

We're all the same

We're the OUTCASTS, OUTCASTS

With nobody's love

We're the OUTCASTS, OUTCASTS

We always get the shove

We're the OUTCASTS, OUTCASTS

We're all pushed away

We're the OUTCASTS, OUTCASTS

The hate won't go away

Time to go back into the rain

While we try to find our place

We can deal with the pain

Even when it's in our face

It's all a mystery to me

We always get the blame

Why can't we live in harmony

And not in shame

Why can't everyone see

We're all the same

We're the OUTCASTS, OUTCASTS

With nobody's love

We're the OUTCASTS, OUTCASTS

We always get the blame

We're the OUTCASTS, OUTCASTS

We're all pushed away

We're the OUTCASTS, OUTCASTS

The hate won't go away

We always get beaten down

It's not over for us

We're the laughingstocks of our hometowns

It's not over for us

But if we all stand together

It's not over for us

Things will get better

We're different from them...

We're the OUTCASTS, OUTCASTS

With nobody's love

We're the OUTCASTS, OUTCASTS

We always get the shove

We're the OUTCASTS, OUTCASTS

We're all pushed away

We're the OUTCASTS, OUTCASTS

The hate won't go away

Everything will get better

(WE'LL FIND OUR PLACE!)

We'll have something to praise

(WE'LL FIND OUR PLACE!)

We'll all stand together

(WE'LL FIND OUR PLACE!)

WE'LL FIND OUR PLACE!

Just let me know if it would be harsh to bronies at all, because if it is, I'm gonna change the lyrics.

Nonsense, these lyrics do not offend me at all! ^_^ I don't really see anything that I would even consider classifying as offensive. :D I like these lyrics. :3

I don't think it's offensive... But then again, that's just me... And usually what I say doesn't matter, so it could be... (At least it isn't offensive to me)

I am disgusted. You are expressing yourself in away I do not approve of. There for I feel obligated to make you feel bad although you are not hurting anybody (in all seriousness, I like the lyrics, but im not a big lyrics guy. I will probably get a better understanding of it once the tone and beat of the song all in place).

(P.s.- I was just kidding about the first part)

I don't see how anyone could possibly get offended by song lyrics, song titles, album artwork, etc. Like, if you don't it like then just ignore it and get on with your day.

The guy threatened to back out unless I changed the lyrics saying that I was practically ASKING for death threats, just to give a little more info.

I'm missing how the lyrics are connected to MLP at all.  This song isn't offensive to anything really, it's just someone singing about being an outcast.  By the way, what genre is this supposed to be.

Death threats for WHAT.  Seriously there's nothing offensive about the song.  And it doesn't mention MLP.  You cam make the case it's referencing Bronies, but you could make that case for any group that is not main stream.

This is gothic rock music, the original song was a mix of "One-X" by Three Days Grace and "Hollow Life" by KoRn. Yeah, I kind of did this after some fans were complaining about AliTwi and EqG, etc. and me feeling like I was caught in the middle and as an "outcast", hence the title. As for the death threats, he thought that some lyrics were dark and I'd get death threats from bronies claiming I'd be as bad as the author of Cupcakes, I was way too harsh on bronies, etc. Anyway, he also flipped s*** when I told him that there mods on a forum I posted the lyrics on didn't give me any trouble about it.

Cool I guessed the genre right then.  When a song has short quick sentences like that it's usually a heavy metal like song. (Or Rap)

What is this person your arguing with role in the recording?

His name is Kodokuna, and I don't believe he's on this forum. I PM'd him after he said his voice was too deep but I told him it was fine and asked if he was still interested. He said yes, but wanted to see the lyrics first, so I showed him. When in chat, he privately told me the lyrics were too dark and that I should change them to a more lighter tone. After I tried to defend the lyrics, things started going downhill.

So your making a song that is inspired by Korn and he says the lyrics are too dark?  By Korn standards your lyrics are very light, and Korn is hardly dark compared to many other bands.  I think this guy is barking up the wrong tree with looking to sing songs like this when he can't take a song this tame.

This doesn't sound offensive at all, but THIS must be the deleted song from The Lion King, "No One Cares"! I thought it could have been written in if Timon and Pumbaa were originally villains in the movie and thought about their actions. Or maybe it is the song of the Main Villain Six!

Oh my God, why didn't I think of it that way? xD

Anyway, @Discount_Flunky, I was originally going to ask him what he had expected from a song called "Outcasts", but didn't wanna tick him off more. I also had to tell Keypassion, the guy doing the instrumentals, that we might have to do something lighter if we had to change the lyrics. He wasn't exactly pleased with the news, either. Kodo was also a bit teed off when I told him this is one of my cleanest songs. I also might get more controversy for what I was thinking for the cover art of my debut album. Not gonna go into details about that.

Just my thoughts on the matter...People generally like being special, even if it's in a "negative" way like being an outcast, or alternatively, "someone who stands out from the masses". It's common knowledge that the majority isn't always right, and "outcast" is sometimes just another way of saying "the only one who is right". The song lyrics clearly convey that the "outcasts" are the ones who are morally right and good, heroes even, so I don't see why any bronies would take offense to it.

If anything, maybe someone would think bronies are exaggerating their troubles, but that's not even an offensive thing, so it doesn't matter.

How is this song not "clean" anyway? It's an expression of emotion - it's not even vowing revenge on society or threatening anyone; it's just a personal statement.

Ya I wouldn't work with this guy.  He doesn't fit your style.  Did you want him to sing the whole thing or was he doing a  backup/duet type thing?

Dude, I see no way that is dark in the offensive sense, it's just a expression of how you feel for being forsaken by people for being different. It reminds me of a more punk spin on "Long Way from Equestria" to tell the truth. It's not dark, like at all(I think I've written darker at least once), in fact I'm going to link two Christian Rock songs that can be seen as much darker to demonstrate:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ20zy7qQZo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2-RHFJ2Vmg:

"You know, I don't know who or what you are Methos, and I know you don't want to hear this, but you did teach me something. You taught me that Life's about change, about learning to accept who you are, good or bad. And I thank you for that."

How the heck could that be offensive? It's not even specific. The lyrics could apply to bronies, furries, trekies, otaku, punks, skinheads, homeless, gangbangers, etc. It's about as offensive as Pink's 'Raise your Glass', except your lyrics make slightly more sense and don't rely on last year's memes.

Umm... Offensive? Wut?

I don't find those lyrics offensive to bronies, and even worse, offensive at all.

They're perfect just like that. The guy who told you to change them is most likely a stupid person or a troll.

"Walk always in shadows, so that you will see your foes before they see you."

I was gonna do a group song, almost like when those artists came together for Haiti. If anybody wants to get involved in this, just PM me and I can hook you up. At least I'll have an actual REASON to ditch him instead of getting into a huge fight with him.

Just like everyone else, I'm gonna tell you those lyrics aren't in any way offensive. If that guy Koto... kono... whatever, thinks they are so bad then why bother having him be a part of it? Clearly he's not going to be okay with them and there's no reason for the lyrics to be changed.

Also, I'm wondering when this song will be done, since I am gonna be a part of it, right? :3

The only thing about this song that would make me thing about mlp is the word harmony, and that's only because I'm just so used it being associated with mlp. I think the song could easily represent any group with haters. Also the fact it's trying to spread a positive message makes it even less offensive, which it wasn't to begin with.

I liked those lyrics.  Don't change them please :).  In fact, I would love to listen to the final product.  Also, this could be applied to pretty much any group society doesn't view as ''normal''.
