request I Need Tutorials for Pony Anatomy/Construction and Soft Shading.

The first part is self explanatory, the second part is that I've been trying to learn soft-shading in GIMP and can't get it to blend right, here's some examples of what I mean by soft shading:

id say use a burn tool, they have it in most programs, and shade were you think that you would have shade and change the hardness/pressure of the brush itself.
