Are Twilight sparkle and spyro, the new rainbow dash and sonic?

It seems that every time I look up rainbow dash or sonic I always run into at least one picture of the two, either in a romantic pairing or freindly rivalry, at first I thought it was just because they were both fast and blue, but after awhile I began to notice how similar they are to one anoather, their both cocky, arrogant, and full of themselvs at times, but other times their brave, selfless, and daring in the face of danger. I found this crossover pairing quite interesting, so I no longer questioned it, but a few months later, I came across a few pictures and fanfictions that paired twilight sparkle with spyro the dragon, I found this very odd at first, seeing no similarities between the two besides the fact that their both purple, I merely facehoofed and carried on, but again, I compared the two, their both smart, brave, strongwilled, will do anything for their freinds, and have great respect for their worlds leaders. Finally after some thought, I decided to ask anypony who's interested on their opinion of spyro and twilight, would they be freinds or lovers? do they have anything in common in your opinion? Do you like their pairing (plutonic or romantic) better than dash and sonic's pairing? Would this make a great spyro and sonic and mlp crossover fanfic? Whatever the case, you decide.

I've actually never heard of that pairing either until now. I usually see Twilight Sparkle shipped with Dipper from Gravity Falls for crossover shippings with Twilight.

 

But as for this one, I can only take your word for it. I've never played any of the Spyro games, so I have no idea what his character is like other than what you said. I guess they could work as a pairing by what you said, but I'm not sure.

Maybe Spike is just Spyro in disguise and therefore he actually is very close to Twilight.  I mean they're both dragons that share a slightly similar color scheme.  Now wouldn't that make a great season finale...

I always thought it was Spike and Spyro hanging out, this is literally the first time I've heard of Twilight and Spyro together, let alone a pairing.

 

For the most part I vehemently hate Crossover pairings, especially when the pairings are pretty much impossible. SonDash makes SonAmy look like Romeo&Juliet, and Twilight and Spyro as a pairing feels like a complete asspull. Friendly rivalries are fine, but please don't pair MLP characters with non-MLP characters

I think Twilight Sparkle would be shipped with Dipper from Gravity Falls, of course. While, Rainbow Dash would obviously be shipped with Sonic. Two pretty relationships, that are good in two different universes.

I've honestly never heard of this until now. I don't see as it all that great of a pairing, as I don't see what they have in common other then they're both purple and have wings.

 

Sonic and Dashie make sense because they're both blue and they're both the fastest things on earth. With Twily x Spyro...it doesn't make sense....Twily can't breathe fire and Spyro isn't an egghead.

I can actually see Twilight and Spyro as good friends, but I don't know about the whole "lovers" part.

 

And another similarity that might make sense is that they both DO know magic.  The reason why is because Twilight's a unicorn (obviously), and in Spyro games; Spyro uses green magic gems to use is abilities.

I'd say Spike VS Spyro makes more sense than Twilight. Same gender, species, color scheme and similar attitudes, after all.
