[Stargazer Nights 226]

"No, I'm in the wrong so I get the couch, go to bed and rest up. I suppose we can finish off this... discussion tomorrow. Just please, don't leave me... I need you." Kaz said, stood in the door silhouetted by the bright lights behind him. "I'll do anything for us to not end here, just don't leave me now."

 

Kaz walked back to the couch and kissed Bass on the cheek but didn't move away, he tilted his head downward so his snout rubbed against Bass' fur and breathed softly.

Bass sat, and stared into the eyes of the unicorn up against his muzzle.

 

Pulling back a bit he said, "No, this is your apartment, I'm not taking your bed. I'll sleep on the couch."

 

Looking the other direction, he added, "And I'm not leaving you. Not yet. I just need to think. I'm gonna go to sleep, then get up and work on some new tracks in the morning. If that sounds alright to you."

Bass sat, and stared into the eyes of the unicorn up against his muzzle.

 

Pulling back a bit he said, "No, this is your apartment, I'm not taking your bed. I'll sleep on the couch."

 

Looking the other direction, he added, "And I'm not leaving you. Not yet. I just need to think. I'm gonna go to sleep, then get up and work on some new tracks in the morning. If that sounds alright to you."

"No, you're in the bed. Don't start another argument." Kaz said sternly as he threw himself down on the couch and levitated a blanket over the top of him. "Now go rest up, you must be absolutely shattered after your performance tonight... And Bass? I'm sorry." Kaz put his head down and closed his eyes.

Turning to the opposite side of the room, he closed his eyes and, among a jumbled mess of thoughts and worries, drifted out of consciousness. Kaz was right, after all... The gig, among other things had him rather beat.

As Rut-Light walked through his home door he couldn't stop thinking about his 'history lesson with his boss, "That was very interesting; that locomotive has lasted more than 30 years, pulled more mail trains, shunted more freight and helped take more broken down steam engines to the works in five months than the express train transports passengers, in two years.  Apparently that locomotive was also one of the fist to have the wheel arrangement 0-4-0 as well as have a record like that...and despite all it does it's only broken down twice."  This information surprised him greatly he was pretty knowledgeable about the history of steam locomotives; but not nearly as much as his boss Steam Iron.  He took off his cap and I.D, set them on the bed-side table, crawled into his bed and fell asleep almost immediately.

"Kaz, I can't do this. I'm going."

"I can't be with you, not after this."

"Don't ever find me, Kaz. This is it done."

Bass mumbled some inaudible phrase in his dazed state. Without noticing right away what happened, he slid back to make room for the stallion. Then after a moment of coming back into consciousness, he pulled quickly back in shock, "KAZ! What are you doing?! Jeez! I thought you said you wanted the couch!" Then, after a large sigh, and a moment to calm himself he pulled the covers off. "I'll go to the couch then, alright. jeez.." he mumbled, already beginning to turn away.

He pulled away once more, with minimal effort due to the contrasting strengths of the two. "I'm really sorry Kaz, I just can't. Not now."

"If you're gonna be this way, I'm just going to the couch. You can just sleep here. Jeez." he said, turning tail to leave.

Skycoaster layed there, passed out for the remainder of the gig, his hooves twitching to the beat. The next thing he new, the barmare was dumping water on his face. "Ugh, what time is it? Oh crap, its almost midnight! I need to get to my hotel, and fast. I have to be up at the crack of dawn to see why..er never mind. Could you direct me to...oh crap! My bags are gone!"

 

She reached behind the counter where she had stored them and gave them to Skycoaster, as well as a map, and pointed a hoof at his hotel.

 

"Er, thank you miss."

 

Skycoaster trotted to his hotel, still feeling the effects of his drinking. Checked in and immediat fell asleep as he hit the bed.

Bass pulled back even quicker than before, nearly shouting, "KAZ! I just told you not now! This isn't okay!"

 

Bass then attempted to quickly scramble out of the bed, but the covers got him tangled, and he fell to the floor in a panic. "Buck it all!" he shouted as he hit the floor, and quickly stood back up. Kaz stood up and shouted, "YOU'RE NOT GETTING AWAY THAT EASILY!" As he leaped through the air majestically and then crashed to the ground, pinning Bass down.

 

"I told you you wouldn't get away." Kaz said through hysterics.

"KAZ! STOP! THIS ISN'T OKAY!" Bass yelled, still trying to comprehend how the rather small stallion managed to even get him to the ground. He pulled himself back up, once again overpowering the unicorn. "Are you insane!? I SAID NO!" He screamed again, still in shock of being tackled. "If you don't stop, I'm leaving and will get a hotel, I swear!" Bass added, turning to face the stallion who still lay on the floor.

Sunny's cheeks went red-hot with surprise as Candy tackled her to the couch. She continued to blush at Candy's words. Their position was a rather intimate, and she wasn't sure if she was ready for that level of intimacy, but she reminded herself that they had cuddled the night before, and nothing had happened then, and nothing had really happened yet. Her cheeks still blazed as she tried to wave off her uneasiness.
"Well, I'm not sure how much there is to talk about, but if you really want to talk about me, we can," she said, and couldn't help but notice how awkward it sounded.

Kaz didn't push a kiss back either but just lay there on the carpet of his bedroom with the larger stallion on top of him. "Shall we go and get more comfortable?" Kaz said quietly after some moments had passed. "I don't think floors are very well known for their comfort rating."

Bass, still without proper thought, simply nodded with a "Mhm". He then let the Stallion up, and waited for him to return to the bed before following. Afterward, the tan unicorn snuggled up under the covers of the plush bed, this time with the other pony. He pulled himself in close to the white unicorn, and just cuddled, not caring about anything in the world, just enjoying the moment, without thought.

Candy sighed again. "Believe me, there's a lot to talk about." Candy felt more comfortable now than ever before, but also more vulnerable than ever before. "I wanna...I want to open up to you. Completely." She inhaled, "I've never felt this way about anypony else in my life...and in the past 2 days...I don't even know how, but you've just...you've become so much to me and I have all of these feelings...and I just don't know what to do." She finally exhaled, slowly. "I just...I don't want to ever leave your side..." She nuzzled Sunny.
