An Old Head 4,816 July 29, 2013 Share July 29, 2013 Copied and pasted from the FAQ: "New moderators are added to the forum only when deemed necessary by the site's existing staff. There is no sign-up process or application system for moderator positions; it is an invite-only job, and one that requesting or attempting to 'sign up' for will only result in disqualifying yourself from."
Quilava 1,290 July 29, 2013 Share July 29, 2013 If you read this file here, you will see that moderator status is not something that you can sign up for. They are only added when the current staff feel/think more people could prove to be useful and only those that they think are worthy of the job/position are considered. ^~Signature by Me~^ ~^Click on the Image above for already made signatures/graphics^~ Request A Signature | Have a Question? | Signature Tips/Tricks
Standard User 2,127 July 29, 2013 Share July 29, 2013 The first tip: DON'T ask to become a mod. Don't try to become a mod. Don't bribe, don't do anything. As moderators leave their position, the rest of the staff will discuss possible candidates to fill in the hole. So be an active, helpful, friendly member of the community, and you have a chance. 1 oOo RIP Forums Writing Centre ;_; oOo
Zygen 6,066 July 29, 2013 Share July 29, 2013 You can't apply to the website to become a moderator, it is done from selection by the staff whenever more moderators are required, and the choice is based upon who the staff decide has the qualities for it they want. Asking to be a moderator will if anything make it less likely for you to become one, Feld0 has said that he believes the best mods are the ones who don't show interest in doing it in the first place, and simply do it in service to the community. So you can't apply, if you become a moderator you become one, but you don't apply for it. 1 Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! Solution Blue Moon 6,341 July 29, 2013 Solution Share July 29, 2013 New moderators are added to the forum only when deemed necessary by the site's existing staff. There is no sign-up process or application system for moderator positions; it is an invite-only job, and one that requesting or attempting to 'sign up' for will only result in disqualifying yourself from. We strongly believe that the best moderators are the ones that have very little actual interest in being a moderator in the first place, and instead accept the position solely for the sake of helping to improve the community as a whole. To be honest, it's a rubbish job that involves a fair bit of stress and work. You don't want to be a moderator. -MLP Forums FAQ 3 Autumn Blue Moon Clear Skies Summer
Red Diamond 549 July 29, 2013 Share July 29, 2013 Uh, you do not "sign up", or "apply". Trust me, I've been moderator on plenty of forums, and it's not fun. ATTENTION!! I DO NOT TAKE REQUESTS!
SCS 7,522 July 29, 2013 Share July 29, 2013 (edited) As others have said, the basic answer is that you have to be invited. Also, I would like to add that becoming a moderator is really hard to do, given the fact that there are over 14,000 members, yet only 11 moderators. It's great that you want to help out the community, but there are many ways you can do that right now without having to be a moderator, such as reporting bad stuff when you come across it, welcoming new people, or replying to questions here. However, every once and awhile you can apply for Poniverse staff positions. For example, Ice Storm recently had an application open for new Poniverse staff to monitor the Equestria World RPG. Also, you can currently apply to become a Poniverse Developer, which I assume would put you in the Poniverse Staff usergroup. This doesn't happen frequently, but if you want to get into the staff then you should keep your eyes open for stuff like that. Edited August 5, 2013 by SCS The Poniverse Developer application was removed from the announcements, so I removed the link to it from my post.
