Lauren may not have handled it as best as she could have but I think My little Pony gets to her easily. Just stop acting like he's the big bad bully just because you idolize Lauren. She's awesome and all, but she's not the only good writer in the world. She clearly knew it wasn't meant badly and responded by joking around, so no reason to be offended. When someone mentions your twitter name with @ before it in a tweet, it'll show up on your notifications. It's used to either directly address someone or mentioning them with the intent of them seeing it. (Which I don't think this is the case) So yeah, it would be pretty hard to miss. I honestly cringed for Lauren Idiot needs to find tact for presenting his opinions, and have the state of mind to respect them and their feelings. The same logic applies to idiots who post things like, 'I REALLY LIKE SO AND SO REMIX BETTER' on an original MLP song. How do you think that makes the artist feel? In no way does it seem like the dude was trying to be hurtful toward Faust, he just wanted McCarthy to know what a great job she's been doing since the former producer stepped down...and it just so happens that he also thinks the show has improved since she took the reigns. Does that necessarily imply that Faust was a bad producer? Not at all, but judging from her response, she seems to think that's what he meant. But honestly...why should she feel awful? Moreover, is Adam someone who should care what Lauren thinks? Is that why he should've figured out a way to post this so she wouldn't see it? Personally, I would never write a tweet directly comparing two people like that. It's unavoidable that a post like that will vex somebody, and I'm not that compelled to share my opinion with the world in 140 characters or less. I imagine that Lauren was in a lousy mood when she read this. One of the things about twitter is that it is so easy to post, one's mood can come through where it might've been edited out in a longer format medium. Yes, the fandom was growing when she left, but it wasn't anywhere near this big. And now she's jealous because of the recognition Meghan is getting. Whoever this fellow is, he showed poor tact by send the tweet to Lauren Faust. He may have just been in the habit of linking accounts to topical posts; only he knows for certain. I see little point for Bronies -- or anyone, really -- to jump in to defend Lauren and/or bash the guy. She said her piece, he then responded by saying it was a mistake, and she reiterated how distressed she was. Case closed. Unless the two of them happen to do business with one another, I doubt their personal lives will revolve around the incident. Why treat as any larger than a small spat on Twitter? Because we admire Lauren? People can and will do dumb things, whether intentionally or unintentionally. Whether or not the guy was justified in his opinion does not change the fact that he didn't seem to be thinking about the consequences of his statements. We are perhaps entitled to our opinions, but we expect to be insulated from opinions in response to our own. To parrot , hopefully folks haven't gone to such lengths as sending hate mail and messages. That's truly a waste of time for all parties involved. Oh, and I agree with his tweet. Lauren never struck me as a big jealous judgmental jealous-jealousy-pants. My impression is that her job places her under a lot of stress -- hence one of the reasons she left the show -- so it may have simply hit her at a bad time. Or maybe she was offended by having someone knock on her digital door and say, "Lauren, you're great and all, but Meghan McCarthy is better than you." That might grind my gears, too. Self-critical people, and those who are good at their craft, don't necessarily like to be told that they are inferior to their contemporaries. No one does, really. I have never seen Lauren be anything other than appreciative of the response she has received for the show's success. Some of her passing comments strongly suggest she is still hurt by having to leave MLP behind, and that she misses working on the show. It's an understandable reaction: MLP was a labor of childhood love for her. She'll probably feel a twinge of unhappiness for the foreseeable future, but not because the show is successful. 4 Domine, tu omnia nosti, tu scis quia amo te.
