I think, some stories failing, because the start is to action ... or too boring. Mayby they say too much about the main person already and so on. I try, that Jack is no Character, you know from the beginning, you know only that, what he say or what other saying.

 

As an example:

In one chapter, he remember one bad thing, happening on his 10th birthday. But I didn't write, what exactly happening there, so I can use it for later.

 

I try to make the story, that always something new happening, of course, some situations need more time then others, but I not want to write about one thing over 5 chapters. Also new characters, more about their past and so on^^
