“I don’t see where this is headed,” commented Riley, sitting at a table, outside Sugarcube Corner.

“What do you mean?” asked Cassidy, who was sitting at the opposite side.

“This trip! You said you wanted to go to Ponyville for a 'break from the city', and I decided to accompany you… but it’s boring. I wish there was something to do.”

“Well…” replied Cassidy, “Pinkie Pie, that mare who works here, says she’s going to be hosting a party later. I’m sure she’d appreciate your help.”

“Great idea!” replied Riley. “What will you be doing?”

“Anything else. I’ve had a phobia of big, loud parties ever since that house party of yours,” replied Cassidy.

“What makes you say that?” asked Riley, tilting his head.

Rolling his eyes, Cassidy responded, “You know full well what. I must have passed out, because I woke up later and I was dangling from the ceiling and there were glistening scraps of paper stuck to me.”

“Hey, that was Anala’s doing!”

“Whatever. I’ll just be wandering around Ponyville if you need me.” And with that, he got up and began his trek.
He wandered down the homely village path, stopping when he noticed a sign. It seemed to be for advertising job/volunteer spots. One post-it note read, ‘Ponyville Orphanage – Volunteers Needed’.

Gosh, I bet Clementia would love to do that, he thought. He began to walk away to… do what? He realised he hadn’t planned out what he actually intended to do. He looked at the sign. Could be interesting, he thought. He memorised the address details, and trotted away to the orphanage.

“Ugh! Why won’t this brain of mine work?!” said Rising Shine frustratedly, through gritted teeth. He was trying to think of ideas for his next novel. Being a well-renowned writer, especially amongst his friends, he didn’t want to take a long hiatus. But the creative part of his mind just wasn’t being agreeable today.

Hrm… perhaps if I take a stroll around the village, I may be able to nab some inspiration, he thought to himself. So he packed his notebook and pencil into his saddlebag, and trotted away. It had taken a lot of willpower not to fill his notebook with his ‘Rainbow Dash fantasies’.

He trotted down the street, taking in the surroundings. The lush greenery, the couple at a table, the flower shop… but still nothing. He sighed, and looked over to his left to see a building. That’s strange, he thought. Last time I took this route, there was an abandoned shack here. In front of the building was a sign. It read, ‘Ponyville Orphanage’. Under it was a miniature sign reading, ‘Volunteers Needed’.

That’s it! The next blockbuster is about a rough childhood! he decided.

“It’s fine. You just took a little tumble, that’s all,” said Selune Darkeye, helping an elderly stallion to his hooves.

“Thank you, miss. Cheerio!” said the stallion, tipping his hat.

“Hey, I couldn’t just leave somepony in need, now, could I? Take care now!” replied Selune.
