It is what inspired the Basement part of my name.

 

 The game is inspired by Edmund's own experiences with religious relatives and what he's seen religion do to people that were close to him. He actually really likes Christianity and thinks of it as interesting and fascinating. But Isaac is based partially on reality.

Yeah. Isaac and his mom have a bunch of other issues too. The game heavily implies a past history of her abusing him, that she's addicted to pills and has even gotten Isaac addicted. That Isaac might be transgendered or have multiple personality disorder. He's also show to have been bullied heavily and has suicidal urges.

 

 The game is just messed up. The entire thing is meant to take place in his imagination.

It is. It's really odd to play it the first time because the game is so screwed up.

 

 But that's part of why I adore it. I haven't seen any other game willing to take on all these subjects. The fact that the game is also incredibly fun and replayable, has great music, and a really demented sense of humor with a surprisingly symbolic story make it endlessly enjoyable and fascinating.

One of the reasons I like MLP so much is because of how bright an happy it is. I just don't like bleak settings so don't expect me to play it anytime soon, sorry.

It's fine Snapp. It's funny because Isaac and MLP are my major obsessions and yet they are so different.

 

 Fun fact though. In Isaac there is an item called the "My little unicorn" which is a horn that acts the same as a starman from the old-school Mario games. My headcanon is that Isaac is a brony.
