New operating system, instant virus!

 

Fortunately, it went fine after uninstalling the suspicious programs. And I don't have an antivirus after all...

I stupidly fell for the infamous "free downloads" on YouTube that lead to surveys and stuff.

 

After installing the suspicious program, my browser started to randomly close by itself without any warning, and after a few times acting like that, it finally gave up even opening...

 

I then checked Internet Explorer to see if it is working fine, and it did open, but I then saw that there's some trouble connecting to a proxy server, which is weird considering I never configured or even used a proxy before. I disabled the LAN proxy settings, which was apparently ticked on, but after applying it, it was enabled once again!

 

I then went into my add or remove programs, and saw some very suspicious stuff there. Uninstalled them and everything went to normal.

 

What a way to start using Windows 8...

See, I don't understand why everyone hates Windows 8. I have no problem using it. If anything, I actually like it better than Windows 7.

I actually like Windows 8's look and feel. It's rather nice.

 

 But I have never had an operating system this buggy before. Seriously.

The only hiccup I had with it was when I first got my computer. There was a driver or something like that, that wouldn't let me run Google Chrome, and would basically crash the computer, until a patch cam about. That's the only issue I've ever had,

I had an issue where the computer refused to ever turn off, and I had to manually hit the power button. One where the sound would just completely quit constantly and I always had to go fix it myself, and a few other bugs.

I saw a lot of likes in the video, so I stupidly assumed that it was legit, that's why my 'seems legit' sense failed to trigger... -_-

Ditto. I see no reason why people are being OA to the Metro UI. Windows 8 has many benefits, the lightning fast boot speed, the newly improved UI, DirectX 11.1, and some other features I haven't discovered for myself... XD Besides, if you don't like the start screen, just keep calm and download a program that brings back the start menu. Simple as Google, download, install...

I've got 8.1, too. The only thing I miss about 7 is the old Start menu, the rest of it is pretty much the same as 7, although some features were more optimized for touch screens than desktops.
