I believe we could more feasibly make fully-immersive Matrix-like virtual worlds in the near future, hopefully before this century is out. If we're talking about real universes bound by the laws of physics, then I think we'd be the same as we are here. I think that would be more feasible through an outside actor such as magic or technology (whatever exists in said universe). If it's Equestria, and that's how its magic works, that's probably what would happen. It wouldn't be the universe itself but the magic inside of it.
