Don't judge a book by its cover. You will truly understand it if you're just willing to read it.

Damn a 144 Hz monitor? Impressive.

I think the camera on the OnePlus One does 120 fps.

Disappeared for a moment because I'm reading this article on the OnePlus One. I'm thinking heavily of getting one and because I get paid in only 12 days (and I got a raise to boot) I really think I'm going to go for ie :D

Heya^^

I've heard Acer and maybe some other manufacturers will release IPS monitors that will carry a 144Hz refresh rate. So no more compromise between high response times/refresh rates but narrow viewing angles of TN and vibrant colors and wide viewing angles but slow response time IPS panels... :yay:

Really Android is the same on every phone. There are little tweaks every manufacturer does to their version of the OS, but at the core, all Android devices run just about the same.

I can see why someone would like Apple devices for their simplicity. But there's no personal flair. All Apple devices look the same unless you jailbreak it. But if you've got that level of tech knowhow, why not just come over to Android where all the power users are?

Apple is for people who like a simpler experience. Android is for the more adventurous. And once you theme your Android phone, it's pretty much unbeatable.

For example, my phone. Everything serves a purpose on here. The lock screen is just there to be pretty so we'll ignore that. I only have two home screens - more on that later.

The first home screen has everything I need to know at a glance. What time it is, what I have planned, and what the weather is looking like. Tapping those things will take you to the clock, the calendar, and the weather app respectively.

The second home screen has my secondary stuff. It's less important than the first. It has my music player and the 12 apps I frequent most, such as Facebook, YouTube, my checkbook, and even a guitar tuner.

Common to both screens are the Google Now and Google search buttons and my app drawer (which is like the Windows Start button) at the top and my dock at the bottom, which holds the five most important apps to me: Phone, Messaging, Internet, WhatsApp (which I use to talk to my German best friend), and Google Maps. I will want those from any screen.

Back to why I only have two home screens. If I'm looking for something, I have a tendency to swipe the wrong way. The launcher I use has this thing called infinite scrolling. Basically when you get to the last home screen, if you try to swipe again, it'll just go back to the first. With only two home screens, you achieve two things: 1) You keep the interface from being overcrowded or overwhelming and 2) You make it so that no matter which way you swipe, you will never end up on the wrong home screen.

My theme is very business-like and practical, and I could never do this on my old iPod. Even when it was jailbroken. It's the biggest reason I love Android so much.

I'm not saying to any Apple users out there that you're wrong for having an iDevice. It's just a customization thing. I like putting my own flair on things to make it stand out from the others.

I think the reason so many people get scared away from Android is that they don't know how to use it to its fullest potential. I see a lot of people with Androids that I've been allowed to pick up, and they just don't know how to utilize the OS. It is something you have to sit down and spend some time with.

I also think people get scared away from Android because of the sheer variety there is out there. I think it's a great thing, but some people get overwhelmed. Why is the Samsung phone more expensive than the Motorola? What does the Nokia do that the HTC doesn't and vice versa. But I like looking into these things and picking the one that best suits me. It's the level of variety that really draws me to it, much like the Windows platform and custom PC building. For people who want a safer bet, I'd definitely recommend Apple. Because an iPhone is an iPhone is an iPhone. They're all the same. All the iOS apps will run the same on all iPhone 5's.

Anyway the OS is the same on all Android devices with a few little tweaks here and there. If you're ever looking for the full blown raw Android experience, you get a Google Nexus. But really at the end of the day, it's just a preferential thing. If you like iOS, that's :)

Wait, you can have third party launchers?

Unless my parents just don't know how, I'm not sure that you can do all this on KitKat, which is the OS my family (except me) has

Well, my old entry-level Android phone, which runs good ol' 2.3.6 Gingerbread, has numerous launchers available in Google Play, so there SHOULD be ones available for every version out there, including KitKat... ;)

Wait, you can have third party launchers?

Yep.

I'm using ADW Launcher. Because TouchWiz sucks. At least it did when I first got my Galaxy. I can't stand it. Its widgets were big, clunky, and ugly. I just got that launcher and a few apps to put some custom widgets on there and I was golden.

I like these widgets that have transparency because it lets you see the awesome wallpaper you've got on there. I try to have as little blocking my wallpaper as possible as a beauty tweak.

And for the record, that is Kit Kat. ;)

I'd have been really angry if Samsung didn't get Kit Kat on the GS4
