Seriously. They think I'm a loner or something because I don't go out on the weekends very often. That's not the case. I love people. I talk to my buddies at work all the time. Hell, I even arrange going out to lunch every now and then. Because I'm not going out on the weekends, it does not mean I'm lonely. I'm sorry that from time to time, I need a couple days alone. Not want. Need. That time is my recharge time. If I don't have it, it's easy for me to feel uncomfortable, overwhelmed, and exhausted. They cannot understand that. Seriously. I've been told before that they just cannot fathom spending an entire day or two without talking to anyone on the phone, without going out to see a friend, or just going out in general. I can't do that. I need at least one day to be by myself. I need the period of just chilling out, relaxing, and doing absolutely nothing. It's not lazy. It's not loner behavior. I'm just an introvert. Why is that so hard for people to understand?

 

And I mean...I've tried telling them they don't have to understand but at least have a little respect for that aspect of me. That my brain does not work where I have to be in social situations often to feel normal. I need to be absolutely alone and quiet for a day or two to keep myself from going crazy. 

 

And that's not to say introverts don't get lonely. We do. We definitely do. Three days is my max to be alone. And if I go longer than that, I'll start seeking someone to hang out with. We definitely get lonely, but we also need our space....some more than others....but I can't get any of them to understand that there are times where I need to be alone or I feel awful.

So I spend my weekends alone.
