I'm sure it won't be too bad at release. Windows 8 wasn't buggy at release. I'm speaking from experience. I adopted it the day of. It was a leap but you get used to it, to be honest.

I just couldn't keep it running Metro style so I picked up a program that lets me run it like Win 7.

You'll likely never find yourself using Metro. Especially if you don't have a touchscreen. If you don't have a touchscreen, Win 8 isn't that great to use. For example, it made shutting your computer off a 5 step process rather than hitting the start button and then shut down. Unless you do that from command prompt (shutdown.exe /s /t 00). If you're happy with Win 7, I'd suggest sticking with it. Win 8 and 8.1 isn't much of an upgrade at all from 7.

8.1 added a start button, and made it a lot easier to shut off.

I don't have an issue with it. My issues lie with the machines it's installed on (i.e. my computer troubles).

I upgraded to Windows 8.1 from 7 because of the supposed performance increases in games. (Even though I am not actually playing anything right now...:lol:)

But then again, to quote Linus "Do as I say, not as I do"... :comeatus:

I still don't like it all that much. The desktop looks better. I like the minimal design. But that doesn't make it a great OS. It's good, but not great. Windows 98 was great. 8 is not. Because 98 is 90 more than 8. So 98 is much greater than 8. :comeatus:

No, I meant upgrade from windows 8 to 8.1.

Ah okay. I thought you were saying "I have 7 and should upgrade to 8.1." lol

I wouldn't say 8 is bad. It's just not great. I think it could have been better. All I'm saying is that I should have stayed on 7 because it was just much better for the hardware I'm using.
