Aaaaaand it seems everything today is going downhill for me. Ever since I got back home everything is going wrong and pretty much everything I was looking forward to has fell apart. I really hate nights like this.

By the by, I heard E3 was kinda bad this year, which is a shame. I was looking forward to it, but I have heard mostly negatives so far.

It's difficult to be bullish about the gaming industry these days. It was amazing in the 90s and into the early 2000s but these days, it seems like AAA gaming is going by the wayside because the cost of making a game is going up but the consumers don't want to pay more though it's not unlike the developers to want to see incredible profits on these games. I know developing a AAA title isn't easy or cheap, especially these days when a AAA title can be  60+ gigabytes. You know what I think is really killing it though? Mobile platforms with their pay to win business model. They're the most expensive free games you'll ever own. "Oh! You want to build a windmill? Well that's going to take 3 hours. If you don't want to wait 3 hours, you can skip it for 5 gems! Oh! What's that? You don't have 5 gems? Well you can pay $2.99 for 5 gems so you can skip those 3 hours! Oh, you want Rarity in your game? Well she's gems only. You can't get her with coins. And she's 240 gems. Oh, you spent all your gems skipping building times? For $29.99, you can buy 300 gems so you can have Rarity in your game!" NO. That irritates the hell out of me. These mobile games are tiny, cost little for devs to develop, and feel like a cash grab. That's why I don't game on my phone. And if I do, it's a full version. All I really have, though, are Temple Run and Tetris. Temple Run used to not have ads back in 2011 lol

I've always been a hardware nut. I like having my own equipment and that's why I don't like where things are going. We're moving toward streaming now. Infrastructure isn't in a big hurry to improve. Internet speeds are getting faster but my internet does get a little buggy from time to time. So what I see for the future is these underpowered consoles that stream all their stuff from servers. I don't want that. I want my own PC that does all the work on my end. But I think I'm just a product of the days where you bought a game and put it in your system. I grew up on the Nintendo 64, GameCube, PS2, PS1, SNES, Sega Genesis, etc. I'm from a time where when you had a game, you held it with your own hands. I don't mind digital distribution that much. I just hope that Steam is around for a long time or I could possibly lose the hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars I have in games I bought on Steam.

I really don't know where gaming is going in the next 10 years. My prediction is that Sony and Microsoft won't make another console. We know Nintendo is working on one, but I think it'll be their last. It would be kinda cool to see them go into publisher status and they start making Legend of Zelda games for the PC. I'm running an i5-4690K and an R9 290. I want to see what my hardware can do with a Zelda game that was built for it  It would be glorious!! :o

But anyway, I just hope that gaming remains a relevant thing in the future. People are getting harder to impress and who knows how much more advanced technology can get at this point? I guess we'll just have to see.
