You mean what the bear community is? It is a community of gay men who are usually a little bit hairier, corpulent and not so the typical gay cliché of the feminine looking man.

Nothing is compulsory.  You can wear leather, you can wear pink, you can wear metal shirts, you can wear camouflage, you can wear nothing ... but a lot of them wear pink, glitter or leather clothes on such parades. I was one time in cologne and it was CSD there and a lot of the people who wearing such stuff. 

 

And yes, the bears are normally don't wear leather. I guess the leather people are an own grouping inside the LGBT scene.
