Hey caps, question for you.

What about communism appeals so much to you? Just asking out of curiosity.

I mean, the very first fundamental assumption they make is that companies HAVE to grow. no growth == death. Right...

What would you say, how much do I make when I buy a machine for 1million € and then produce and sell goods with it and make 1million € from that?
Any normal human being would say I made ±0€, what am I taught? I made minus 1Million €, because my machine is going to lose in value, so at the point it is not worth 1mil€ anymore, but 0€, I have lost 1 million € and my company is insolvent.

CONGRATS, YOU JUST CREATED THE REASON FOR YOUR BASIC ASSUMPTION.

Okay if you can't sell any of those goods, then you have lost 1M€ plus operating costs, maintenance costs, labor, inventory costs, and overhead.

But if you make and sell 1M€ worth of that product in a year, no business owner in his right mind will fully depreciate an asset in the first year of ownership. Because yeah, your financials will be telling everyone that you have no assets and nobody will want to invest. That's stupid.

If you do straight line and depreciate it over 5 years, you have sales of 1M€ plus an asset with a carrying value of 800k€.

That's like Accounting 101

The only reason a stagnant company will die in the market is because competition will likely grow too. If you can't keep up, you'll get left behind. That's how Walmart dominates everything. I hate Walmart but I have to respect its ability to edge out the market.

I mean on the million euros thing, if your margin is 35%, you have earned 350K and depreciated 200K. But even if it's fully depreciated, that doesn't mean it's worthless when you sell it. You'll get something back on it, maybe 300K. You're still making money  :derp:

No but that's fucking retarded.

If I spent 1 million, and then made 1 million (by selling goods, as I have described above), I have a total balance of 0, not of -1 fucking million.

And you say I have to grow because the others grow.

But why does ANYBODY need to grow?! Because someone made that^ shit up.

There IS NO NEED for growth! The only time I need to grow is when my market grows, and there is no need for me to make my market grow!

And don't say "but you need to make money". Uhuh, and why? Why do I need to make more and more money? If I make enough money to carry on with my business, I made enough money and my business is successful, so why do I need more?

Capitalism in itself is not logical. Capitalism CREATED it's own basis and necessity.

I could explain, but I don't know if that will fit into 1 post, I'll do it really, really short :derp:

first of all though, you've got to stop thinking Stalin, Lenin, Mao = Communism ; it's not. Seriously, go read 1984, more specific just the part where Winston reads Goldstein's book.

Quote

[...] the classes perpetually repeat the cycle, when the Middle class speaks to the Low class of "justice" and of "human brotherhood" in aid of becoming the High class rulers. [...]

I will also admit that communism as is, is an outdated idea and would not work in todays world without large changes. And it's not communism that appeals to me as much more socialism.

And let me say, NOBODY is opposed to the idea that sombody makes more than someone else, but what everybody should be opposed to is the fact that some people make MILLIONS EVERY MONTH, while hard working people have a hard time feeding their families! If you worked your ass off to achieve something you deserve that.

We live in a "Leistungsgesellschaft", but we got it all wrong, instead of saying "Der der etwas leistet kann sich auch etwas leisten" (the one who does something can also afford somethign) we say "Der eine kann sich etwas leisten, und der andere muss etwas leisten." (the one can afford something and the other must do something)
I'm sorry that this doesn't work in English so well, but puns usually don't translate. The idea is still right though.
