You mind me asking why, particularly, you're not comfortable with his stay?

 

 

A few reasons. Can't be on the forums or skype around him, a lot of our interests have gone down different paths, so not as much in common, and a lot of what he likes to talk about now, while not bad, kinda makes me uncomfortable, and I get the feeling he thinks a lot of the things I'm into are silly. He'd be staying the night, and I don't like other people in the house, etc.

 

 As for being honest...I don't know.

You don't have to tell him everything. And don't be like, "Sorry, sucker. Find somewhere else to stay."

 

Just let him know you're not entirely comfortable with him staying the night. Maybe that's just me. I don't like being dishonest with people. Transparency might not make people like you all the time but you'll garner more respect.

 

If you just don't have much in common anymore, that happens. Believe me, it happens. People drift. It's normal. Don't feel like an awful person because you've drifted. If you're not comfortable with him staying over because you've drifted, you need to let him know. He might have more fun elsewhere anyway.

I get it's normal, it also terrifies me. He used to spend the night all the time anyway.

 

 And being honest in my experience always seems to cause more problems.

Well then just pick the lesser of the two evils to you. Times like this happen where you are faced with a choice that no matter the decision, the outcome will be unpleasant. No win situations suck but we've all got to deal with them at some point. I've offered my take on it. Do what you think is the least bad choice.
