Having a mental illness does not make someone sub-human. Even if you aren't able to deal with being around them, that does not mean they aren't still deserving of empathy.

 

 Some of the supposed mentally healthy people are a hell of a lot more terrifying, for their seeming lack of care for the people who aren't completely "normal".

 I was just yet again surprised at how some people seem to lack any sort of empathy for people that don't fit into the norm.

Well, that is the sort of "norm-centric" reaction to all sorts of things.

 

"Uuurgh, he likes ponies, what's up with him?"

 

I know my Japanese friends family were a bit standoffish when he said he wanted to be a florist, rather than folowing father and grandfather into the metal trade. But my friend stuck to his guns, even came back to the UK to learn "our style" of arranging to give another string to his bow and offer something different.

Now he runs a successful business with several employees and supplies flowers to all sorts of places including the Meiji Shrine.

 

Was it a pony related website?

If so I'm suprised, I hoped we were/are more supportive as we're all a little "different"
