I know most of it was metaphorical. The video's point was how Isaac used references effectively. There are a lot of references to video games in Isaac and that video helped explain why they were important to the story instead of just being there for kicks.

Sharks - I don't like to go that far out. The sharks don't come close to shore.

 

Waves - I've been on a swim team since 6th grade; I'm pretty sure I can handle it

I love beaches.  It can be annoying but it can also be lots of fun.  Though it could be that I like them because I grew up close to them.

@Base - Yeah, I didn't really realize how the video game references played a bigger part in the story.  I thought they were there like in Super Meat Boy, where the whole thing was like one big parody.

I've only been surfing once. This one time I went down to a place in Florida and they offered surfing lessons, but that was a few years ago. I would love to go surfing again though
