I think if you're just going to dump someone in Equestria just like that, it's more interesting to leave them as a human. Seeing how ponies react to a random human in equestria is always amusing as long as it's well written.

 

 Human to pony fics need something a bit more to them to work in my opinion.

Well, the main character at the beginning is an all hating man, that has no friends and avoid things that are funny, who get fired from his job. He hack as revenge the computer from his chef, sending most of the companies money for children in help and tries to escape the police, when he lands in some kind of a area between Earth and Equestria(I should mention, the story is connected with the My Little Dashie Stories). Chrysalis landed here, no way back to one of the worlds, but send him here for fun. She turns him into a pony with a bet. If he find out in under a month the true meaning of friendship, he can go back to his old human life. If not oor anypony find out the truth, he lands back to her, forever.

 My favorite fic on the site has a human land in a version of Equestria where humans already exist. Except the humans their are essentially just animals that the ponies use for labor and as pets. Sort of like how we treat horses and ponies here. He lost his ability to talk too, but luckily he get's found by Celestia who sends him to Twilight as a present. Of course she wasn't expecting her new "pet" to be almost as smart as her.
