I'd sometimes try and read something else instead of what they wanted, but they always said no. So, I just started ignoring them and reading what I wanted anyway.

133414,

Nice.  ^_^

Reading has always been a bit of a bore to me, but since I started having to do it to keep up with my Counselling and Psychology work, it's been flat out and I've learned to accept it a bit more.

It helps if the content actually interests you...  ;)

Indeed it does help. I remember them wanting us to read "The old man and the sea". At least I think that's what it was called. The entire book was a guy fishing. There was apparently some sort of symbolism or something else there, but I couldn't bother to find out what because...fishing. Not really that interesting.

I got an A for my essay on it though. Despite having only actually read the first 15 pages.

133416,

Pffft, that sounds disgustingly boring if you ask me!  :eww:

Wow. And I thought that fishing was boring enough as it is. A book about fishing. Damn.

Hehe, funny how that works out! My marks have always been reasonably average. The only time I'd EVER get an A or an A+ was during an oral presentation, which I'd excel at easily!  :proud:

My grades could either be really good or really awful. It was dependent on a lot of factors. I literally got an A on every single vocabulary test, but I still only got like a C each time because I hadn't taken any notes. So, I was getting punished for not taking notes I didn't actually even need.

My math grades were always bad though. I could just never remember any of it.

133418,

With my current course, it's possible to get away with taking no notes at all, as long as you have experience. We have welfare workers come in all of the time who seem to do an outstanding job because they know so much about the system!

I recall taking no notes in maths and just taking my good old time to answer all of the questions in the neatest writing possible as to stall for the longest amount of time as humanly possible! I'd also take regular breaks!  :o

I remember that tests and quizzes were always timed. And most of the time you had to turn your work in at the end of class even if it wasn't a test. You had no time to stall.

Didn't stop me from doing it though.

lol, stalling FTW.

Timed tests? Well. I don't think I ever got anything like that other than the "School Assessed Coursework" tests which counted towards your grades... wait... but even then we could take questions home and look at them.

My teachers seemed to find the biggest loopholes in the system!

One of my teachers being the principle would have a big list of the rules and say "Alright guys. I have a plan"

Oh the memories!

I love how everyone can just say something positive about it, or thinks it's fine. And yet all I can do is talk about everything wrong with it and how much I hate it.

I think I'll stop now. Thinking about it is starting to give me a headache.
