Here's the thing with that, Wind. For as many plain, normal, boring (to use your vernacular) OCs as there are, there's going to be as many unique ones. If you really want to stand out, you have to think way outside of the box.

Well, I wear more accessories than the average OC, I have no cutie mark, and I have a meaningful (but at the same time overused) name.

There is no distinctive theme, my character has no known interests, and I would love to develop him, but I don't know what format I should do it in.

Additionally, his backstory and his personality are not fully clear.

Even worse, this is supposed to be a reflection of my real life.

But I guess it's great to be genuine and not embellished.

I always fancied myself as the Charlie Brown of OCs. The plain, vanilla, average one who just doesn't give up no matter how much he messes stuff up or how mediocre he comes off to others. So there is some good to that. ;)

But there's plenty of room to be better. I really need to develop the character. I designed him to have development potential.

However, I can't find the right format for that. RPs are too long and kind of a bit unpredictable. I thought about fanfiction, but there were many reasons for that not happening. One is that the format, like RP, takes a long-term commitment, and then there's also the issue of a supporting cast. I don't want to use my characters since no one knows them, I don't want to use other OCs because only their owners know how to write them, and I don't want to use canon characters since that's a whole other list of problems.

Most likely I would do art, but I get so many new ideas and a few requests that I think I'll be backed up for the next few months or so.

I really need to get people to know this character, but I don't know how to do it.

I RP through Twitter, through something called Twitterponies. Short RP's, usually no longer than a day, and in essence, you basically become your OC entirely, and live day in and day out vicariously through them.

That sounds interesting. Unfortunately I shut down my Twitter account months ago thanks to Android sync merging my contact lists from my Pegasus Express account and my contact list from my real-life account when I tried to sync the two accounts on my phone. >_> I wanted to keep the two accounts separate, but Android messed it up for me. :okiedokielokie:

wow that sounds really cool

Don't judge a book by its cover. You will truly understand it if you're just willing to read it.

It also gives you the opportunity, not only to set a backstory, but also to continue building on your OC's life. The only downside, is in order to build up a good reputation and build the network of others you'll interact with, you need to know someone, and you need to do some networking. I kinda learned that the hard way...

I'm intrigued by your Wiki page, OD. :D

I disabled sync, but unfortunately the damage was done as Twitter was still trying to merge the two contact lists by suggesting each account's friend lists to the other, so I had to shut down the account. I'll have to open a new one anyway as the OC for this purpose (in case I decide to join), so that's not really a problem for me.

Sleep deprivation has led me to many creative opportunities.

Mine does that with my OOC account, but it doesn't bug me.
