I think what it is, is most ponies in the show are a pastel color, and typically such a deep red like OD or Big Mac doesn't really fit that bill.

Well the reason I say that, is because when I got OD commissioned, the artist said normally she'd have to order fabric in the necessary colors, but in his case, she had a lot of red already.
