Yeah. Only reason I went back to Windows was because I needed Office for school. And iTunes (even though I'm virtually 100% against Apple) is my preferred music manager. Neither of these are on a Linux distro.

 

I feel like if Linux had even one quarter of the software available for it that Windows does, it'd take off like a rocket, explode into a bright light, and save the world from the Microsoft Slave Trade that is Windows, spreading joy to whomever installs it.

Though I feel like more people going to Linux would be both a blessing and a curse. Because while we would get more software compatibility with the increased install base, we would also see an influx of viruses. And Linux distro users would be particularly at risk because people fall under this false belief that Linux is immune to viruses, much like Mac users. The truth is that 90% of people use Windows. There are just more people using those machines with credit card information to steal. Nobody wants to make a virus that will only potentially affect Mac users who make up probably 9% of the PC market and Linux users who are the 1%. Why steal possibly 5 credit cards making a virus for Linux when you can make a virus for Windows and possibly steal 5,000 credit cards. It just makes more sense for someone to make a virus for Windows. 

 

And it doesn't help us Windows users that pretty much everyone and their mothers know C+. 

 

So yeah. A mass exodus to Linux would be a lot like the white man colonizing the west. It'd bring a lot of good things and a lot of bad things. Like the good things the white man brought to the Americas....

Yeah, my analogy is crap. Wow my ancestors sucked....or at least 87.5% of them (thanks to the 12.5% of me that is Hawaiian! I bet those guys were awesome!!)
