 In Task manager, it shows that system and service host: Local system 14 are causing my disk usage to jump way up past 90%.

I'm only running Avast and Chrome right now, nothing like that running in the background.

 

 I just updated and restarted about half an hour ago, but my laptop is saying it already needs to do that again.

 Also, two other things. I updated from windows 8 to 8.1 two days ago. And my Avast scans found a bit of malware yesterday, though any further scans with both avast and malwarebytes found nothing after it was removed.

Well, despite the super high disk it doesn't seem to be affecting much...I can watch videos with no problem, and I'm not really lagging...

the way i see it if my pc works as i know it can its fine 

 

if i notice it actually running slow ill fix it but no matter how much cpu usage or disk usage i dont care till it makes me slow

I suppose that's a good way to think.

 

 I'm just really paranoid about things like this though. I'd really rather not have to get a new computer so soon, especially since we can't afford one.
