The Circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it, no paper notices or downtown posts and billboards, no mentions or advertisements in local newspapers. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not.

 

The towering tents are striped in white and black, no golds or crimsons to be seen. No color at all, save for the neighboring trees and the grass of the surrounding fields, Black and white stripes on grey sky. Countless tents of varying shapes and sizes, with an elaborate wrought iron fence encasing them in a colorless world. Even what little ground is visible from outside is black or white, painted or powdered, or treated with some other circus trick.

 

But it is not open yet. above the tall fence rests a beautifully carved sign with the words

 

Opens at Nightfall

Closes as Dawn

 

As the sun slowly sets, a crowd of ponies appear behind the gates. The performers are slowly making their way to their tents, getting ready for the nights activities. The propreitor, Grand Finale sits in the back, adjusting her crimson scarf before using her magic to activate the circus. Lights that resemble fireflies flicker on as they encircle the circus, and the gates slowly swing open. The night has begun

Blasted Nova and Light Streak, or Stephan and Colin, as some call them, sit in the tent awaiting for their act.

"Why are we doing this again, Colin? You know I don't like using my abilities like this." Asked Blast in annoyance.

"Remember when we were kids back on Earth, Stephan? We used to love the circus. We always envisioned ourselves doing something like this." Light said with enthusiasm. "And, besides, we should use our abilities in a way that doesn't involve involve beating up changlings and spirits of chaos... or getting your butt handed to you by Rainbow Dash half the time." Light snickered a little.

"Very funny." Blast said in sarcasm. "Fine, we'll do this. But we're doing this act only once. We're not a traveling act. We're adventurers."

"You never change, pal." Light chuckles. "You're just saying that because you don't like being held up in one place. You're so impatient."

Blast just laughs. "Yeah. You're right. I hate being cooped up. I gotta get out there and run! There's too much of the world to explore to just be in one place."

"Well, believe me, you'll have plenty of danger and speed soon enough, Stephan." Light assures him. "Just wait. Our act will come up soon."

Grand walked out into the circus, catching whiffs of caramel apples and popcorn before she turned to the ponies pouring in. "How I love the circus!" she says smiling, waving at a young colt whose eyes were wide as we took in the sights. A few acrobats were scattered around the main court, performing amazing feats of flexibility. Grand loved the circus, but she loved watching the reactions of the ponies even more. She passed a tent where a fortune teller sat, staring into a crystal ball while a few ponies gasped in awe. She walked into the nearest tent with an audience, and decided to watch the illusionist do her tricks, smiling at the majesty of her circus

Blast got up and stretched. "Just sitting back here is cramping my style. I'm gonna go to the stands and watch these other guys." Blast ran out of the tent. "I'll bring back a caramel apple or something!"

"Don't be long!" Light shouted.

Blast went and got a few caramel apples. When he turned away from the stands, he bumped into Grand and dropped the apples on the ground.

"Oh my. Hi, Grand. I didn't expect to see you here."

Minty trotted through the large line that had formed in front of the circus. She was apparently, new to the whole thing, but she could do with her equilibristics act if she can pull through. "I knew this circus was good, but not that good.. We have a full house! I hope I can make some friends here.." Minty thought to herself, changing into the outfit she had to wear to the circus.

Grand looked at him and smiled. " Oh hello Blast, fancy seeing you out and about so early into the night" she said smiling, eyes shifting from Blast to the illusionist performing a tantalizing dissapearing trick. " How have you been enjoying the circus so far? I hope the tent youve been assigned suits your needs well" she says, looking down at her clipboard that held all the different acts. she would have to go check on the new performers tonight, as she just recently finished the latest auditions.

Stardust was slightly nervous in her tent, her proper first time in doing anything that was just tricks.

She peeked out of the tent and saw the pony that came to watch mill around looking at all the other attractions. Stardust took a big breath and then started to set up the her first act, all in the cover of her tent.

She opened her flaps and her throwing machine was revealed. She looked over the crowds and started to yell.

"Come and see my amazing act. My act of Time. Come and see how I am able to stop things within their movement and turn their clock forwards and backwards. Come and see the act of time."

Stardust used her magic to activate the machine and it start to shoot things at her, it wasn't as fast she had hoped but thats what yo got when you worked with machines. It through nuts and balls and wood and the occasional trinket, all of which were either too young or too old for anyone's use. As the crowds started to gather she would catch the things with her magic and make them younger or older in front of everybody's eyes and when they were perfect she gave them out to the crowds. She gave ripe fruit and delicious candy to the foals and old trinkets turned new to the older folks. She was spreading smiles and she loved working with her own magic.

Blast slightly nodded. "I feel like this is a weird use of my abilities. But this seems exciting enough. It's nice to see all of the ponies here having a blast." Blast smiled. "As long as my act has me going fast and has stuff in it that keeps me going, such as a sort of obstacle or such, it'll give me chance to show off a little." Blast chuckled at his sentence. He just loved to stroke that ego.

Grand smiled at Blast before standing up. "I hope you dont mind but I have to go and check up on the other performers, its a big night for quite a few of them" she said before walking out of the tent and heading towards the next tent and entering the tent that was titled. "The Time Manipulator" she watched quietly as the alicorn turned old fruit new again, and premature berries into sweet treats/

. The crowd was enraptured by the performance

Blast smiled and got two more caramel apples to replace the ones on the floor. He looked through the agenda and noticed that he and Light Streak one of the final acts. That made Blast a little nervous. He couldn't really use his speed in acrobatics, but he was quite good at that kind of stuff from all of the jumps and stunts he does on adventures.

Blast continued to watch the pony do her act of time. "Awesome..." He took a look at the act and was quite impressed. Not even Light could pull off a feat of time.

Colour Spark and Firecracker walked along the tents, on their way to where they were to get set up.

Fire saw a white alicorn try to advertise her attraction and immediately flew over. Color Spark galloped to catch up.

"Oh! Me! Me me me mememe!" Firecracker called out excitedly, waving her hoof in the air to get the pony's attention.

"Firecracker, we're the pyrotechnics! We have to get ready! We don't have time for this!" called Spark.

"Aww, c'mon Sparky! We don't have to be ready quite yet! Just one try!"

"Fine. Only if she chooses you, though."

Blast walked back into his tent and saw Light in the same spot. He gave him a caramel apple "Dude, you'll never believe who I ran into."

"And who could that be?" Light asked.

"Grand Finale." He said with enthusiasm, eating his caramel apple.

"Oh, you mean the theater unicorn you always say is 'so awesome and perfect?'" Light said with a snicker.

"Yes, Light. That one. Apparently, she's running this show. And we're right after the white alicorn out there."

"Well, you better suit up, pal. Something tells me this'll be the fastest acrobatic course you've done."

"Pfft. That doesn't phase us. We're gonna nail this thing!"

(Just a heads up, yall can have your own tents if you want, or we can do them in one tent, whatever you wanna do) Grand stomped her hooves at the Alicorn. `Thats a fantastic act,Im glad you decided to come aboard`she said smiling at the performer as the audience slowly filed out of the tent. Ì hope you enjoy the new job! Its quite an interesting career hm?" she said, seeing the other performers still standing around

Stardust had been doing the trinket tricks for a little while now and she may have been running out of little things if she checked, though she was only estimating the amount left. She was still giving out trinkets when a bright red pegasus came right up to the front, 

 

 

"Oh! Me! Me me me mememe!"

"Yes? Are you volunteering for my next trick? I haven't asked for any volunteers yet, you must've read my mind. Or maybe you knew of the future before me. Hmm."

Stardust gave a knowing smile, she was acting her part and she was so glad that this one came round. Gave her some material to use.

"Would you come up here for me, please?"

Firecracker beamed as the pony acknowledged her.

"Dunno, I just thought I heard you looking for somepony from the audience. Okay!"

She flew over to her and landed, bouncing slightly on her hooves.

Color Spark made her way to the front.

"I'm only watching to make sure nothing happens. She's my little sister." she mumbled, trying to convince herself that it was true.

Oh, who am I kidding? Time magic? I gotta see this!

Stardust gave her another smile, being really friendly with her volunteer. Her next trick would be dangerous if she had been a novice in time magic but she new this spell like the back of her hoof, but she wanted to make sure that her volunteer was alright with it.

Stardust closed the gap between her and the pegasus and whispered in her ear.

"I'm going to turn you old and then young then I'm going to need you to be completely still for the last bit. You okay with that?"

Stardust wouldn't go ahead with the trick if her volunteer didn't want too, though she sounded really excited.

Firecracker nodded and grinned.

"You're gonna turn me old and young? Cool! Okay, I'll stand super still!"

She did as she said she would, closing her wings and ceasing her enthusiastic bouncing. She nodded at the pony, showing that she was ready for her to begin her act.

Stardust smiled again at the pegasus's enthusiasm, So as she stayed still stardust faced the crowd.

"As this young mare has bravely volunteered. I will be performing a very difficult spell, something that not even the Princesses themselves would be able to do."

Stardust leaned into the crowd, given the atmosphere a taste of mystery and awe.

"I will be transform this mare into that of your grandmother's age. A frail old mare who only stays at home to watch the flowers grow. And then I shall transform her into a foal, like you were once in your life. Though she will be experiencing it TWICE!"

 

Stardust leaned back from the crowd and then moved her body into a position that looked like she was about to fight a massive beast and put her most concentrated face on. She really didn't have to do this to do the spell but the act was for all the young ones that were watching. She cast the spell and the pegasus was lifted into the air, then she changed into an old mare. Her hair turned much lighter and had a few greys in it while wrinkles piled on her face. Her body shrunk and wibbled about, until she was softly placed on the stage, looking like any old mare. Stardust let  the pegasus walk around a bit too show off her skills before performing her next trick.

 

Stardust lifted the old mare from the stage and did the dame spell as before, but in reverse so that she would age in reverse. As the pegasus suddenly turned from old to young Stardust got a small basket that was behind the curtains. Before the now new foal could touch the ground Stardust put the basket underneath her. Then picked up the basket with her magic and showed the audience.

"Is there anyone in the audience that is related to this young foal? Or maybe a friend that came with her?"

Color Spark watched in utter awe and wonderment as she saw her sister grow old, and then young. 

Wow.... I haven't seen Firecracker look so cute since she agreed to stop giving me the sad face... She looks just like she did when we were fillies...

At the mare's question, she put her hoof up.

"Me. I'm her big- well, now, really big - sister."

Stardust lifted her eyebrows and gave another smile.

"Well, do you wan to keep her like this? I know how annoying little siblings can be."

Stardust was only playing a joke but she really wanted to see the sister's reaction and it would make a great reaction with the crowd

Color Spark was surprised at the mare's question and gaped a bit.

"Err.... well, I haven't seen her this adorable since she stopped giving me the puppy dog eyes, but I know I would have a cow if my twin Supernova came home with her looking like this, not to mention our mom having a heart attack. Should probably have her back to normal age before the fireworks tonight anyway, we're the pyrotechnics." she chuckled a bit.

Filly Firecracker looked at her older sister.

"Spahky!" she giggled.

"You're the ones doing the fireworks? Then I shall get her back to normal so you can get to it, I love fireworks."

Stardust moved Firecracker to the centre of stage again and moved her out of the basket. Stardust again did the spell and Firecracker was the same age as she was when she first ended up on the stage.

"There you go, now go on and get those fireworks ready!"

Stardust was being friendly and she was still performing for the rest of the audience when she remembered something.

"Oh, I have a gift for you being brave and coming up on stage."

Stardust gave Firecracker a beautiful necklace that she had restored earlier in her show and it matched Firecrackers coat perfectly.

Firecracker shook out her wings as she returned to her normal age. She looked at the mare and grinned.

"That was so cool! I mean, when you made me a filly I didn't really get what was going on 'cause I was a foal, but I bet it was super cool!" 

The two sisters started walking off stage but were interrupted by the mare.((Is she a mare? I know usually Stardust wouldn't act like this as a mare, but she's acting so mature and adult-y...))

Firecracker turned back to the pony as she gave her a beautiful necklace.

"Thanks!" she exclaimed. "It's so pretty! Hope to see you at our fireworks display tonight!"

Fire and Spark smiled at the pony and trotted off the stage, heading to where they were to set up/

Blast and Light decided that they would go and meet the talent before their act. They exited their tent and entered the white alicorn's tent. Blast and Light walked up to her.

"Your performance was outstanding!" Exclaimed Blast. "How did you bend space and time like you did?"

Stardust was just packing stuff up when she heard someone come into the tent.

 

Your performance was outstanding!" Exclaimed Blast. "How did you bend space and time like you did?"

Stardust lifted her head, she wish that the guests would knock first but you can't really chose with tents.

"Bend space and time? I don't bend, I manipulate it. I control it. Its kind of my talent to control time."

Stardust showed her cutie mark to the guests, the clock with the blade through it and the music behind it looked well on her flank and she was proud to show it off.
