Mywas 687 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 So on my free time I was thinking and I realized that Osama Bin Laden and Chrysalis have a lot in common. They both attack other countrys and Races. And both of them have a certain motive. While Chrysalis motive is to provide food for her kingdom and a place to stay. Osama had A Lot of reasons on why he did what he did. And neither of these motives that these two have makes what they did acceptable. The only difference is that Osama actually killed people while Chrysalis failed to do so. And that Chrysalis had a villain song.... Am I the only one who sees the resemblance between these two? Credits to Mint Drop for an awesome Sig. ~StatesTheOblivious~ 1,795 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 (edited) Er, isn't that with the motivation and actions being mostly wrong or inaccaptable from the attacked or third side's point of view always the case when it comes to "military" actions? Someone will always see it as the wrong thing. You could compare Chrysalis to nearly every military commander, leader or whatever in history. Not just to one specific terrorist. And Bin Laden is a bit of a too extreme example, I think. As you said, there are many differences. PhaZd 71 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 (edited) I can see where you're coming from, but I think it's just a coincidence rather than something the writers meant to put in. And as @StatesTheOblivious said you could compare Chrysalis to nearly every military leader in history, not just bin laden. Dzastur 1,719 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 Bin Laden was all about hate. Everything Chrysalis does, she does in the name of love. (Yeah, it's because she and her minions want to devour love, but it still holds true.) 1 Ain’t that Equestria / Drop on by / Ain’t that Equestria / Give friendship a try / Ain’t that Equestria / Ponies who fly / Little pink cupcakes for Pinkie Pie
Singe 2,111 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 Chrysalis and her changlings are nothing more than a parasite hive society. They feed off on love/magic to survive and increase their numbers.
Scootalove 10,689 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 You could compare Chrysalis but, Bin Laden does what he does because he hate America while Chrysalis does it for love and to feed her subjects. Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules
GhostPony750 959 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 Well, nice comparison. xD But I don't think it is the case, or was meant to. I doubt terrorism would be in a kid show. So for now, let's write a villain song for Bin Laden lol.

Actually Osama had more reasons, Theres an entire Wiki page for the Motives of the attack on the towers. Well, nice comparison. xDBut I don't think it is the case, or was meant to. Singe 2,111 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 The US and Bin Laden were allies once. I don't remember Celestia and Chrysalis being mentioned as allies once. I also don't see Chrysalis preaching about Celestia meddling in Changling affairs.

Homura Akemi 974 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 Honestly? It's a children's show. If anything, Chrysalis is more like Malificant from Sleeping Beauty than a terrorist who once lived. I don't see the connection.
Rebel the Wolfgirl 5,605 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 Why would you compare Chrysalis to Bin Laden? I can understand where your coming from, but Chrysalis is nothing like Bin Laden. All Chrysalis did was try to take over Canterlot. What did Bin Laden do? Killed thousands of people! So, in conclusion, Chrysalis is not MLP's version of one of the most evil men in history. Personally, I like to compare her to a dictator. Official Discordian pope. Known as Miss Kallixti Oddball to the enlightened..
Dzastur 1,719 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 If season 4 includes Chrysalis getting one of her Changelings to fly the hot-air balloon into Town Hall, we might have to re-visit this thread... 1 Ain’t that Equestria / Drop on by / Ain’t that Equestria / Give friendship a try / Ain’t that Equestria / Ponies who fly / Little pink cupcakes for Pinkie Pie
Jammo 986 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 (edited) Chrysalis does the cruel things she does out of simple self-interest. Needs food for the hive but her methods are evil. Bin Laden had a complex ideology and justification for killing. A lot more rooted in history both religious and geopolitical. Despite both committing acts of terrorism that's where the similarities end. Edited August 24, 2013 by Jammo
Cwanky 17,585 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 Oh for the love of Allah... Chrysalis does what she does in part because she "needs" to. While you could draw the comparison that Al Qaeda and other terrorist attacks against the West are justified due to our governments providing foreign aid to dictators, and military presence the similarities stop there. A lot, if not most of the Islamic terrorist groups like Al Qaeda and Hamas are motivated by ideological radicalism. They're vehemently anti Western and anti modern, progressive and open ideas. Chrysalis while an antagonist, does show some appreciation and respect for Equestrian ideas and norms. Heck the changelings don't mind pretending to be ponies. They rather much exploit and use them for their own benefits rather than destroy or drive them off. The LAST thing they want to do is drive them away. Osama wants to destroy culture whereas Chrysalis wants to control and manipulate it to her whim.
