Oh, dude, I'd be stoked.  I so wish that humans had expressive ears that they could droop/flatten when sad/upset/angry, etc, not to mention move to better pick up sound.  The Na'vi have this, so I don't think it seems that far fetched that humans could have evolved this way.

I'd bet the saying "keep a stiff upper lip," would instead be "keep a stiff pair of ears," if humans had expressive ears. I can wiggle my own ears, and ever singe I developed the muscles, they've become a part of my tool set for expression, mostly moving along with my eyebrows for surprise, or 'perking' when I'm paying attention.

I would go straight to the mirror to make sure what I'm feeling is real, freak out (trying not to be too loud or I'll get caught), put some hat on to cover it. Maybe take a selfie and put it in places where people don't know me IRL if it looks fancy.

I wouldn't remove them if all it's going to cause pain, especially if they're going to be the only ears.

 

If I get a horn, then that's going to be a bit of a problem.

I think it would be awesome, but it depends on what color the ears are as I wouldn't want two giant pink ears sprouting out of my head, but other than that I could hear much fainter sounds, and freak people out by moving my ears around.

I would freak out excited, then actually go to a mirror and see if they're real and if I can use them. Then I would freak out panic as I try and figure out how I got it before calling friends and going on the internet to look for answer. I would then freak out awesome. I may wear a hat initially to hide it on the first day but it's something different something special so I would defiantly want to keep them.

If I woke up with pony ears, I'd be freaking out. After all, I've had regular ears for my whole life, so a change like that would be very jarring. Also, how would I wear overear headphones?!
