I feel the need to explain something openly here. Evergreen's special ability is... odd. She has mild control over plants, that part's simple, but that's not just it. Ever heard the fact that, if you sing to flowers, they'll grow better? Well, it's sorta like that, but in Eve's case, they can sing back. And that's what she's listening to every time her ears flick, or if she's talking to someone who no one else can see. She's listening to the whispers of the forest, and responding accordingly.

She never really explains this properly, and with that, combined with the fact she rarely bathes due to her work as a gardener and herbalist, leads many ponies to question her sanity and typically avoid her.

Good point. I didn't actually think of it that way. Probably shoulda reread that post you made once or twice.

 

Honestly, as far as Eve's powers go, though, I'm not sure fungi count as plants... Spores... Spores... We talking fungi, mosses, or ferns here? Ferns, if I had to hazard a guess, but my response depends on which you're talking here.

It's spores out of flowers so you can decide based on that if she can communicate with the original plant.  They are genetically created by Ceres' cross-breeding but this is in a land of magical ponies after all XD

Hmm seems that she's trying to scare us. Well... That's fine.  However your character reacts is how he reacts.  If it's a failed attempt Ceres will probably react in a dissapointed and defeated fashion (she's kinda blowing her cover right now) XD

So, Eve has foiled it, but for a very justifiable reason. Perhaps not one Ceres will take to heart, however.

I'm gonna go with ferns or mosses. Flowers don't spread spores, but some ferns and mosses are flowery, and ferns and mosses reproduce using spores...

Come on, man, you gotta research this stuff properly...

Yes, but there's this strange blend of science and mythology in this world - there's no reason to not bridge the gap realistically.

 

You know that satchel Eve keeps with her? Well, it's got tons of stuff in it, since it's pretty full, like I've said. And everything in it is either based on real life plants, or mythological ones - considering there are mythological creatures in the show, there's no reason there shouldn't be plants.

 

She's got Yateveo root, and other parts of the plant, taken from the dangerous Yateveo tree of the Amblezon rain forest. The tree itself is known to eat ponies whole, but the root alone is enough to cause any pony to vomit. The Yateveo is a real mythological plant rumored to live in the depths of the rainforest of Madagascar, I believe?

 

She's got Essence of Kythoni. The kythoni is basically a quince, but based on mythological properties of the fruit itself. It's long been known as the fruit of love and sin - experts agree that the apple in the Garden of Eden was actually a quince, and, well, I'll explain it from an old RP I used it in. 

Okay, I love making like, mythological references and stuff. Kythoni is the Greek word for Quince, and in Greek mythology, the quince was associated with the Greek goddess Aphrodite, who was of course the goddess of love. Also, ancient Greeks associated the quince with fertility, and it played an important role in wedding celebrations where it was offered as a gift, used to sweeten the bride's breath before entering the bridal chamber, and shared by bride and groom. These associations have resulted in the quince becoming known as the "fruit of love, marriage, and fertility." It is believed that the quince long preceded the apple, and that many ancient references to apples were, in fact, references to quince, including the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. Even better, considering that we're hosting a party in Eve's garden, Eve, and her garden which she calls Eden. As far as this RP is concerned, a Kythoni is a powerful love inducer. If somepony eats a Kythoni Fruit, they'll fall deeply in love with the next pony they kiss, and the antidote is not... very desirable.

In the form she has the Kythoni though, the Kythoni elixir, all it is is a powerful cure for heartache. Although she does have seeds for it, too. Just saying. Hint hint. If Ceres is well acquainted with plants, and is light-fingered... she could brew up an exceptionally strong love potion...

 

She also has various simple poultices and stuff that she uses to treat injuries and elixirs for colds and various pure herbs she can use to treat... unusual conditions, like Lycanthropy.

 

I also reference plants and creatures taken from other well-known works of literature, like Harry Potter, LotR, InkHeart, and Spiderwick Chronicles.

You're right, maybe I'm in the wrong field. Maybe I should go into politics. Perhaps my brand of reasoned argument would change the pace in Congress nicely.
