A Question About The Alicorn Sisters

I didn't see a topic about this so I decided to post one. 

 

So in the season four finale we see Twilight getting raised to the rank of a Princess, in which she becomes an alicorn.

 

Ermergerd wings!

 

However, in this we see a process in which she gets zapped in something almost like a rebirth process, where Celestia makes her all speshul and stuff. (I have no idea, because I've only seen that part of the episode, not the full thing. Maybe I'm not the most informed.)

 

So, how were the sisters created? When we seen the Equestrian flag, the two sisters are on it, so obviously someone knew of their existence.

 

 

Besides the fact that they could have asked the sisters to help with the blizzard, why were they already alicorns? Did they already possess the Elements of Harmony, which allowed them to become alicorns? Had Discord already been defeated at this point and that aided them in their transformation? Were they born that way? I'm kind of confused about the loose ends that they have here. Is there a possible Luna/Celestia backstory coming up in the future? (If you know, please don't spoil it here, LOL.)

 

I know there's a book about the show, so did it answer this question in there?

I think they only use the equestrian flag in the play for the sake that all the ponies in the audience recognize that flag. Each Tribe had there own standard and probably had a flag that consisted of those originally.

 

The Sisters were born after the founding off equestria but somepoint before Discord's first rise to power, this makes sense in that before this the 3 tribes could barely stand to look at each other, let alone have kids with each other. And they wouldn't have allowed Discord to reign in the first place if the could have stopped him any sooner.

 

I'm also sure its been mentioned that equestria as a country is older than Celestia herself, she and luna have only been its rulers since they defeated Discord with the Elements.

 

We've been told the the sisters were born alicorns, which is why they do not age and have have potent magic. Twilight and Cadence are sort of psuedo-alicorns. they get both magic & flight but age normally.

 

What I want to know is. Was the princesses birth a result of just a powerful pegesus & unicorn mating. Were alicorns known about, even has myths prior to them being born. The elements may even be involved in this and simply put all there power into the sisters before birth, transforming them,

I'm pretty sure that the Royal Sisters were born Alicorns. Supposedly their parents were Alicorn's, and they had two Alicorn daughters. The parents (I think their names were Solaria and Galactus?) were more powerful then they were and had originally found/created the Elements of Harmony and gave them to Celestia and Luna as ways of defense for whenever they needed them. Pony History is much like Human History in which ponies have been around for thousands of years, but ponies have been around for ten's of thousands of years (meaning 10,000+ years). Starswirl the Bearded is supposedly from the Medieval times of Equestria, which means their History is something like ours in which there were stages of ponies. (Ex: Medieval, Renaissance, etc.)

About Starswirl... Clover the Clever mentions that he was her mentor, so Starswirl is actually pre-Equestria, ie before Discord or the Royal Sisters. Twilight also once described him as the "most important conjurer of the pre-Classical Era", which can also be interpreted as being before the founding of Equestria.

If you think about it, the elements the mane6 have are not the same ones the sisters use as twilight kind of reforges them.

 

Thats a question. When Celestia says she can't use the elements anymore, maybe she was implying they outright broke once she sealed NMM away. it would explain why they look like they turned to stone and NMM wouldn't be even aware the elements were broken and basically ends up putting her self in the one place she shouldn't be. In front of new element barers.

As Full Spectrum said, we have no idea how the royal sisters came to be since the show never really explored that topic in depth. Even the Sun and the Moon (Earth too) had a beginning and will have an end, so I'm not sure if the sisters were alicorns or normal ponies. My head canon is that they were not born Alicorns.
