a derpy episode?

how do i make one of those picture things with my name in it. like your picture that has "cuteycindeyhoney" with kim possible on the side

 

A friend of mine made that for me. I think the signature picture was made in Photoshop. I scanned my avatar picture off of a box of Kim Possible Valentine's day cards a few years ago though. I used MS Paint to remove the text from it.

Woah, that IS genius! Okay, but here's the issue; apparently her appearence could come off as offensive if you put handicapped people in a negative light. So what do you do? Here's my idea;

 

as a sub-theme through this, you have the characters learn that even though she's a walking, flying disaster, she feels just as much and is just as important to love as anypony. As she causes these disasters, she gets sad because of all the trouble she causes, then gets really sad and runs off (remember how Twilight cried in a bush in Winter Wrap-Up? Like that, kinda) then Pinkie Pie cheers her up, and in the process, gets the muffin recipe, and the other mane 6 see the error of their ways and write a letter to Celestia about the importantince of loving everypony, regardless. (That letter will be more touchy than a landmine; they'll have more difficulty wording that one than the "faith" letter XD )

 

Hah! Try to take offense at THAT!

No, just each time they think they're gonna lose money in a lawsuit because of it. Businesses make decisons based off cost-benefit analysis. Apparently they thought the cost/threat of lawsuit outweighed the benefit of keeping that scene the same. When you look at it from a business perspective, it makes sense, really. I mean, I love the show, but Hasbro won't do much good making it if they fail financially. A lawsuit alone wouldn't kill them, but in a competitive world, it might put them behind too much, and lead to their eventual failure, so...

As cool as a derpy episode would seem a thing that needs to be taken into account is that derpy is a background character who has no baring on the mane story. It would be very hard to make an episode about a charicter who has little to know background info and overall has nothing to do with the story at hand.

Wait a sec... I've been thinking for awhile, because of some uncanny events, that Hasbro has spies among us...

And now, this could be taken as asking for the intellectual rights for the idea...

As cool as a derpy episode would seem a thing that needs to be taken into account is that derpy is a background character who has no baring on the mane story. It would be very hard to make an episode about a charicter who has little to know background info and overall has nothing to do with the story at hand.

 

Just look at the latest episode. That was almost 50/50 Pinkie and a character that was less than background - we'd never even seen him before! But the episode idea offered here is about 40/60 with all of the mane 6 and a character that's already had a speaking role and is absolutely loved by pretty much the entire brony fanbase. Because of Pinkie's role with getting Derpy accepted, I say it's 60% mane 6 and 40% Derpy.

I'm of the mind that it is best to leave Derpy as a supporting character. A whole episode dedicated to her would be overboard. Part of what makes her so likeable is the fact that she is not canonically well-defined; a Derpy-centric episode would then potentially run the risk of disturbing the fan cultivated aspect of her character. Besides, MLP: FiM is primarily about the Mane Six and how they relate with one another and other ponies/creatures. The CMC are the exception but should not be construed as the norm.

 

In short, Derpy's novelty might be lost, a lot of fans would be disappointed, and the central concept of the show would be stifled.

There's a certain fiasco surrounding a certain season 2 episode that I think works as a perfect example as to why this is a bad idea.

Episode focused only on Derpy is not the wisest idea as only thing it would cause is fans of other background ponies asking for an episode for them. If there is supposed to be an episode about background pony it should be about at least the most popular ones, not focused on her. Besides she already had her appearances, I don't think it is that important to give her another "major" time on screen, after all this show is not really about her.

We don't know her well enough to make a whole episode about her.
