derpflutterbrony 20 November 8, 2013 Share November 8, 2013 (edited) note i had this question perfectly explained but then my battery died "dam you battery so im going to make this quick. i am a 15 year old girl in 10th grade i carry a derpy lunch box to school to spread awareness of the real controversy about the soccer moms ( or whoever ) removing a character because shes disabled not the whole she was created by the fandom thing. to make a long story short my classmate says the lunch box is "for little girls" and that bronys are weird she dosnt know i watch the show. Moonlight 7,286 November 8, 2013 Share November 8, 2013 If I knew you in real life, I would brohoof you so much. But anyway, personally I don't think it's going too far. And even if the show is for little girls, that doesn't automatically classify it as bad. Just try to ignore them. And so what if bronies are weird? None of us are actually "normal", brony or not. 5 matching setups with my bff pathfinder

Scootalove 10,689 November 8, 2013 Share November 8, 2013 Ah, the soccer moms trying to get rid of something that doesn't make a big difference. It isn't exactly going to far, since the soccer moms think that Derpy is something abnormal. Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules

An Old Head 4,816 November 8, 2013 Share November 8, 2013 This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner. This is an automatically generated message, by the way.

Candy Blaze 119 November 8, 2013 Share November 8, 2013 I'm a girl and I'm 15 and I wear a Rainbow Dash/Derpy backpack every day to school XD Your a girl and you have to take advantage of that. I know some of the bronies I know IRL say that girl bronies don't have to worry about wearing their pony merch because it makes much more sense than a guy wearing pony merch. If this girl is one of those, I'm. Better than you-and I'm your generic ****- type of person, I think you should just ignore her and stay with your real. Shanks 10,816 November 9, 2013 Share November 9, 2013 I really think derpy was Hasbros #1 biggest missed opportunity. Indeed she is and for that reason and because there is nothing wrong with having a pony lunchbox having a Derpy lunchbox is not going too far all. I have Autism and though I am not mentally retarded I have been called names like stupid and retard before and know full well what it is like to be singled out for being different. And I think the real thing that is offensive is how so many people claimed to speak for the disabled by claiming Derpy was offensive without even bothering to listen to what they actually thought, many people seen as different disabled or not love Derpy because of the positive message a character like her has the potential to send. Moss 95 November 9, 2013 Share November 9, 2013 I think it is not too far as in carrying a lunch box with a cartoon character in it,but I think it is going to far to carry it to spread awareness of the Derpy controversy, which no one at your school will probably know care about, making it a pointless cause imo,but I don't even care at all about the Derpy controversy,so I can't sympathize with you sadly.Would you mind showing us a picture? If you are getting ridiculed for it,it would be wiser to not take it to school. Dr. Frasier Crane 319 November 9, 2013 Share November 9, 2013 Huh? Where are you guys even getting all this cool pony merch from? All we seem to get here is the not-at-all-creepy dolls. Personally, I wouldn't wear or carry anything pony-related around school, just because I live in a semi-rough area, but I'd have no problem wearing MLP merchandice shirt outside of school. I really don't understand all this controversy surrounding Derpy. It seems TV shows aren't allowed to do anything anymore that doesn't involve making the cast totally-perfect-in-every-way mary sues. +~ Liebe ist für alle da ~+ My Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/shikarilukari
Meddle 24 November 9, 2013 Share November 9, 2013 I see nothing wrong at all with carrying or wearing around merchandise of things that you like, or mean a lot to you. I'm a guy, and over half of the shirts I own for example have characters from various franchises and things that mean a lot to me on them. Carrying around a nifty lunchbox is no different, and I see no reason why you should be faulted for that. Heck, while you may get those few that give you a hard time about it, you may find just as many, if not more people who will be like "Wow, that's so cool, I really like _____ as well!", at least in my experience. I don't really know how to comment on the bit about the derpy controversy though, but hey, if it's something you strongly believe in, then by all means, have at it! HeroBrony 36 November 10, 2013 Share November 10, 2013 (edited) There is nothing wrong with what you are doing. I am constantly wearing brony merchandise, I am proud to be a brony and I don't care what people think. Unless it is good. and I am 19 years old a male and in college. Cygnus 60 November 10, 2013 Share November 10, 2013 I don't think carrying a lunch box is going too far. However, in 10th grade teens can be very focused on becoming adults and pursuing things that make them feel older and more independent, and sometimes they express that by being "against" things they associate with childhood and vulnerability. They might come back to cartoons in college.
ghostfacekiller39 23,860 November 10, 2013 Share November 10, 2013 I'm a 16 year old dude who play(ed) on my school's baseball team for 2 years (I quit earlier this week) and I've brought my Rarity plushie to school a few times, and I just picked up some Rarity dog tags yesterday that I plan on wearing everyday. Dude, that's taking it way farther than a 15 year old bringing a lunchbox to school Don't worry about it, you're good. He who is Positively Obsessed With All Things Rarity!!! Nulln 755 November 10, 2013 Share November 10, 2013 Nah. I don't think almost anyone would understand your reasoning for bringing it though. I'm a 22 year old college student who wears a rainbow dash jacket complete with ears and wings, so no I don't think your lunchbox is going too far. CT-1138 3,182 November 11, 2013 Share November 11, 2013 I'm a 20yo guy and have a Rainbow Dash mini keychain plushie hanging off my backpack. : P I would say that if you weren't using the lunchbox and were just carrying a lunchbox around, that would seem a but odd. But if you're using it, I don't think it should matter. Love is a most potent magic My FiMFiction | My DA | My Facebook
Winona the Dog 1,984 November 11, 2013 Share November 11, 2013 I fail to see how carrying a lunchbox with ponies on it is hardly considered "going to far" especially if it is Derpy. It's not like you're offending anyone around you so if anyone does and uses the weak argument saying Derpy is offensive to disabled people simply refer to other people who act similarly to Derpy. Patrick, Goofy, Ed are all good examples.

CornBreadGang 514 November 11, 2013 Share November 11, 2013 It's not too far, in fact, almost nothing is too far in the means of merchandise. (I said MOST, mind you.)
