planning Occult in the Swamps

Flyers have been seeming to pop up in obscure places around Equestria of a new hotel opening deep within the unexplored marshes near Equestria's border.  It all seems harmless enough, and potentially a great opportunity to unwind and see sights that many ponies wouldn't otherwise see!  And to make things even more tempting, to spread word of the advertisements, for the first two weeks of the opening anyone can stay for FREE!

 

But, who knows what visitors may find once they arrive?  Perhaps these bogs are unexplored for a reason...  Nopony knows what lurks hidden within these swamps!

 

NOTE:  Since it seems to be a common misunderstanding, the hotel is NOT in the Everfree Forest.  It's not in any named location, as I don't know of a canon location that fits what I had in mind with this RP.

 

 

 

Anyways, on to the OOC introductions.  Some of you may recognize me from a few other threads I've participated in, but I'm Lhee, and I absolutely love roleplaying.  So, I figured it was time to dust off my hooves and host one myself (finally).

 

The purpose of this Roleplay is fairly open ended:  It will start out somewhat relaxed and SoL-like, a few little sub plots may develop as the characters get comfortable within their new rooms, all in all a nice get-away to begin with.

 

As the deeper plot develops, it will likely turn into a more action based, story driven roleplay.  It will be small changes at first, and they'll grow as the story progresses.  

 

And keep in mind, the purpose of this Roleplay as with any Roleplay is to HAVE FUN!  

 

 

Rules and Notes (Oh, they're not that long, just read them XD)

 

- No Mary Sues, OP characters, Godmodding, all that standard stuff that I really don't need to go into detail over.

 

- No alicorns: personal matter, I just feel they border too closely to the point above.

 

- This roleplay is canon-era, meaning around the time that the show is based in.  So no guns, no super fancy technology, all that good stuff.

 

- This isn't STARTING as any kind of adventure or conflict based RP, so your character really shouldn't show up to a vacation armed to the teeth.

       -Some small things are allowed.  For example, my character (more on her in a minute) carries a hunting knife.

 

- Romance is fine.  Romance is encouraged actually, if you enjoy that kind of RP.  It can develop interesting subplots.  Just keep in mind that this is a public forum, so keep it PG.

 

- On a similar topic, mind any swearing or gore references.  I'm not too picky, and a little bit of both is fine by me.  Just please don't go overboard with either.

 

- Try not to make any large plot-changing decisions without consulting me first.  Have an idea for something you think could have a huge impact on the story?  Please send me a PM, I would be happy to hear about it and try to incorporate it!  Really, don't be afraid to message me, I don't bite.

        -Disclaimer:  I may bite if you stick your fingers in my cage.

 

- If you're going to apply, please actually be interested in roleplaying.  It happens with every thread, someone will apply, maybe make one post in the RP, and then vanish.  Don't be that pony

 

- And, on a similar note, if you know in advance that you won't be able to post for a while just drop in here and say so!  I understand, real life comes before roleplaying!  

 

- I almost forgot, please use proper grammar.  Just because it's the internet doesn't mean our languages need to suffer.  On that note, try and give us something to read with your posts!  The minimum is alright for a reaction or response, but have fun!  Be descriptive!  It's a text based roleplay, after all!

Wish is an optimistic, headstrong mare just old enough to have left home to try and find her brother. She is kind, brave and stubborn, but naive and inexperienced in anything 'worldly'.

 

 

Fun fact: she's Reds cousin, and her brother is travelling with Symphony.

At age 18 Mirror Image is shy, naive, and easily bothered. She will hide her scars with a purple cloak, mask, and spells. She is beginning to become decent at Illusion magic. Also she's currently trying to overcome her fear of others and work on her social skills.

Krylock is an arrogant, bratty Scorpioserpo with the attitude of a pretty boy. Krylock prefers friends of high status and while cowardly, Krylock has swallowed his pride and fear on more than one occasion to save friends. 

 

Here's what a typical Scorpioserpo looks like but Krylock is green on the snake parts, has smaller pincers than normal, and wears a fancy suit.

While I don't have a problem with non-ponies (My OC for this one is a griffon, after all), I would prefer to keep to races we've seen as sentient within the canon world.  (Ponies, Griffons, Young dragons, diamond dogs, Changelings, along those lines).

 

So I'm sorry to say I don't think Krylock will fit well, but if you have anyone else you would like to apply with I would be more than happy to accept someone else!

Skuldaf, while powerful, is a pacifist who will never fight unless pushed to the extreme. He's almost like a robot due to the brutal training and experiments that took place in his youth, to the point where he wonders sometimes about whether or not he was a stallion or a mare. His stoic cover breaks apart when exposed to animals or foals

I can work with Skuldaf, I just have a couple of points I'd like to address

 

- Once the plot of the story thickens, you may need to check his powers a little (I understand he's a pacifist, but we still don't want one pony able to take care of things all by themselves after all)

 

- Remember that it's going to start with a relaxed Slice of Life kind of pace, the main plot won't come into play for a little while.  So, the whole silent and emotionless approach may make it difficult for others to feel motivated to interact with him!  Just something to keep in mind

You're welcome to either have your character begin on the ferry with Sabellah, or they can arrive in a different manner if you have something specific in mind.  Don't worry, the ferry will reach its destination within a few posts, it just seemed like a good setting to begin the story in.

he did: and even then it only described her if the word 'adventurer' was interpreted very loosely. Still: wearing a hood like that, no doubt this mare was a kindred spirit - maybe Wish could even learn something from her!

 

 

I'm enjoying this. I like how Wish is projecting herself onto others.

 

This is the first time Mirror has left the city since she was allowed to live by herself. And even then she was only guilt-tripped (and kind of tricked) into going by the ponies that looked after her, but more on that later.

I figured that she would be an interesting foil to Mirror because of her confidence and naivety. I still believe this.

 

On reflection, Wish's story is sort of the counter to Mirror's: she left a loving home of her own accord without telling her parents. She's looking for her brother who stopped writing home a couple of years back.

Haha. Yeah no joke. I honestly feel like she will see Mirror Image's face soon. Mirror lacks the useful repertoire of spells and abilities she does in the other RP. So I'm currently at a loss of how to keep Mirror "safe"

 

Anyway, I'm glad Wish is in this. It'd be hard for me to think of a reason for Mirror to leave her room otherwise. 

 

Oh yes, they are a nice counter....you could even say two sides of the same coin. Mirror lost her loving parents in the fire that scarred her body, then spent some time being cared for while she recovered. And that's where she just came from. The staff told her that they had paid for the vacation already, even though she didn't want to go. Since you can't get your money back from a free vacation they weren't really lying to her. 

Geez I think I may have made Mirror Image too hurt and scarred. Between trying to write this post and listening to this song, ▶ Hard Knocks (Griffinilla + Alex Cole) ft. Cats Milly - YouTube, on repeat I'm sad now.

Perhaps a bit of both. But I think I'll aim for better. After all...she isn't this pathetic later in life. Depending on how this RP turns out I may make her time with Wish my "headcanon" for this time of her life. Is it weird that I have an established history for my characters and then a false one?

Not at all! Redwave is probably the best example of one of mine: 'canon' Redwave was in 'Happenings in the Everfree', carries the compass and wears the gemstone. He's 'died' and come back once before too. Obviously that isn't suitable for a lot of RP's so there are a bunch of non-canon versions of him too.

Meh, more lucky than accomplished. Or unlucky - however you want to look at it. Yeah, it was towards the end if the Everfree - there's a bit more of a story to it, but I'll not spam this OOC thread with it all since he's not actually got anything to do with this RP.

 

Heh, Wish kind of got made by accident: I did a R63 of my first character - Scribe - and really liked how it looked. Then the idea just kind of appeared in my head and Wish was formed.
