gaming Mousepad recommendations?

long gone

Recommended Posts

Keep in mind that I am down south visiting family over Thanksgiving, and supposedly there's a Steam sale happening soon, so I won't be able to get your recommended mousepad immediately.

So I got a new mouse recently, yay! Only thing is it's optical and hates my glossy mousepad. So, I've begun looking for a new mousepad as well. My only requirements are that:

  • It's large: I need a lot of surface area for shooters, ok?
  • It's matte: As in, not shiny. So that I can use my optical mouse properly without needing to rest it on my desk or a book.
  • It has a hard surface: I don't find soft surfaces to be particularly durable, and probably would not be able to stand up to my mousing or gaming requirements.

So yeah, help a fellow PC gamer overcome the limitations of his new mouse's sensor out here.

hey daring,

i made a thread over at teamfortress.tv for mice/mousepads

http://teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/11515-the-mouse-mousepad-thread

i would personally recommend picking up a puretrak talent -- 19" by 14" and machine washable.

that or a steelseries 9/4HD. be warned, they work better with laser mice so optical mice might be a problem.

That Xtrac pad looks nice, it's just that I'm not a huge fan of soft pads.

hmm...

perhaps a steelseries 4HD/9HD? don't have any experience with one and i've heard they don't work too well with optical mice but it might be something you would like.

the monoprice mousepad i also have no experience with but it looks very nice and monoprice products are usually top notch.

personally though, the puretrak talent or steelseries qck+ if you want a durable mousepad that would last a while. (they're both soft pads, however). the puretrak talent is also machine washable, so that's a big plus.

Sounds promising. Continue.

continue? uh. ok...

what's your favorite color?

what class do you main?

would you rather fight 50 duck sized horses or 1 horse sized duck?

just kidding.

back on topic i think really past those recommendations it's your choice completely. if you want to look at invite player bios on tftv and buy whatever they use do ahead and do that. i know 90% of invite players use the qck+ or puretrak talent though.

Here's a way to make your own. Take an old hardcover book (if you live near a college town half-price bookstores are your friend), rip one of the covors off and glue a piece of black paper to it. It's cheaper than a store bought mouse pad, and works just as well.

NOTE : by hardcover book I mean a text book of some sort. Novels are too small.
