Royal Pony Sisters Origins Post S4?

So we’ve finally gotten to see the epic battle between Princess Celestia and Nightmare Moon; the battle between the Royal Pony Sisters and Discord; and finally, how the sisters found the Elements of Harmony. Now, my personal head canon was that they earned their cutie marks when they found the Elements, but clearly that head canon is now wrong. However, what are we left with to explain where the princesses came from and how they earned their cutie marks? If we go strictly by what we’ve seen in the show, Hearth’s Warming Eve, their was a time when the Pony Sisters did not exist and they also had nothing to do with creating the Elements of Harmony. In fact, they were lucky to find them and, in essence, stole them from the Tree of Harmony-albeit for a noble purpose. My feeling is still that they were not born alicorns and attained that status just as Twilight and Cadence did by performaing new magic or helping society in a profound way. In their case it must be linked to taking over the raising of the sun and moon from normal unicorns. My thought is that an event occurred that prevented the unicorns from raising the celestial bodies and the sisters had the key that allowed them to do it and thus save Equestria. Thoughts? How do you think season 4 will affect what we know about the sisters origins?

This episode made Alicorns feel a lot smaller. I think it made it pretty clear that Celestia wasn't a creator god like a lot of people theorized. I think Season 4 should expand upon the universe and show a force higher than Alicorns. Not just ascended ponies like Alicorns. Maybe a season finale where they travel to some ancient temple of creation and witness how Equestria was made (sorry Pinkie).

I don't know about their origins, but I believe they got their cutie marks when they first learned to raise the sun and moon respectively.

Thanks. I've written two but I'm more interested in show analysis at the moment. If I had more time I'd consider a blog or vlog.

I'm not too sure. All we know is that Celestia and Luna have limited knowledge about thier land though they knew about the Tree of Harmony, but not the chest that came with it with the keys locking something inside.

This episode told us absolutely nothing new about Luna and Celestia that we didn't know already.

We already knew that they'd found the Elements, that they used it against Discord and that Celestia used it against Luna.

The only thing we didn't know is about the existence of that awesome tree. 

 

We still don't know anything about the two sisters beyond that they were already using their royal regalia when they faced Discord. Which is weird. The were rulers during Discord's reign? Huh?!

(And that they used adorable saddlebags.)

 

This episode changed absolutely nothing about them, but, we may get something more about their past in other episodes.

I do believe that if you estimates are true then there must be a higher power the Celestia and Luna. But I doubt Hasbro will go that far, lol.  I really love the cannon though, can't wait to learn more.

Well, I can agree on your head-canon being shattered because if it were the elements, primarily, then it would signify the elements, would it not? Twilight is an exception because her talent is her element, magic. And the princess and the rest of the mane six have a main talent, and it is not a character trait. Huh... Twilight's element is a summed-up physical character trait? Weird...

This makes sense. I say it must've been Discord. Didn't you notice how long it was day-time? Perhaps Celestia and Luna did some effort in keeping the time of day in balance for Equestria before they decided to use the elements of harmony. Maybe this was the time when no other unicorn was powerful enough to move the celestial bodies due to Discord's magic.
