Honestly though I don't think the writers... or should I say the storyboardists, since they were probably the ones who decided to put that in, I do not think they intended from him to be somepony special. They probably just decided to reuse that picture. As for Fanon names though... I don't know. I dunno, especially since I haven't seen the newest episode so I might be taking that out of context, but he seems like maybe an old commander for the Royal Guard or something. I could easily imagine he's Chancellor Puddinghead. It'd at least explain why he's got a portrait in the Old Royal Castle. Perhaps that mare to the left of him is Smart Cookie? First I think he is some kind of war hero or general and in picture #2 to the left of him is I think Granny Smith or possibly her mother or grandmother.
