What if Earth Pony Magic is a Myth?

Well, ask yourself this.

If you lived in a society where you had two "races" of people, ones with limited telekinesis and weak psychic powers, but SOME of the psychics were god mode level strong and its implied that psychics could train to become stronger.... don't you think the psychics would seem "superior" to the Muggles and make some muggles feel inferior?

 

Even if most psychics could only do minor telekinesis like lifting cups and other objects, the sheer fact that they had it and others didn't would still imply a degree of inferiority.

No. I still wouldnt see them as superior and the others as inferior. All races can do different things that others cant.

 

I dont think using real worl logic would work because in our world nearly all of us are not psychic..so of course someone with powers would be gifted because its not normal in our world..but this is equestria..where there is magic everywhere and different kinds of magic..unless i see an episode where earth ponies are not happy..i will think that they dont feel inferior

 

Besides..magic and flying wouldnt be practical for them because they all have diff talents

I don't know, I find it hard to think of a way in which tactile telekinesis WOULDN'T be a practical ability to possess when your species lacks hands. Mr. Cake had to change a feces covered diaper with his mouth for example

 

So even if you don't need it for your job, it would still be incredibly useful in your normal everday life.

I have a sort of head canon about crossover talent or weaker talents.  I wonder if Fluttershy is a weak flier because at least one of her parents were earth ponies. Though her personality and confidence may be a factor because she can fly fine now when she isn't "performing." Maybe RD has some earth pony blood and that accounts for her strength. Maybe Scootaloo has two earth pony parents so she lives on the ground and never had a real mentor (before RD) to show her the ropes and why her wings are a bit too small.

 But I don't think I've seen a plant (or food) based cutie mark that wasn't attached to the flank of an Earth Pony. There might be a few I didn't catch, but like I said before, who says their can't be occasional talent cross over?

I grew up in the sticks.  "Bucking" trees is magic.  Sure, ripe fruit falls all the time & if you shake the branch sometimes more falls.  The wind does it all the time, it is where the expression "wind fall" comes from BUT, when they kick the tree ALL the ripe fruit & only the ripe fruit falls.  Real life doesn't work like that. You hit a tree anywhere near that hard & either you or the tree will break.  + a lot of branches & unripe fruit will fall, too.

 

So, maybe the idea of Earth Pony magic is greatly exaggerated & based on fans not wanting Earth Ponies to be useless.  But, that much has to be real.
