I'm not saying this episode should be spared criticism. But, let's face it, we know what some of the responses might be from the overzealous contingent of the comic book / super hero fandom. I think this episode could be at the greatest risk of being nitpicked to death. 

 

I don't think this episode would exist if not for the creators anticipating an older audience. So, aside from a fair wish for quality in general, I'm hoping there isn't too much looking a gift-pony in the mouth on this one.

Well, considering that I am still in the boat that thinks that the entire thing will be a figment of Spike's imagination, a dream, or a hallucination of some sort, if anything it will parody to the comic book super hero genre, and as a result should not be taken seriously in the first place.

I am not too worried about the general reaction to this episode, but rather I am worried about the direction, on the story level, in which they mean to take it (and I'm even pretty lax about that).  Because, honestly, there will be nit-pickers either way.

Rarely do I take seriously the folks who bitch about every conceivable aspect of an episode. I mean, I myself am a habitual nitpicker and overanalyzer of things, but only for fun's sake. There are two types of people in the world - those who focus on the bigger picture, and those who can't see the forest for the trees. And I sure as hell ain't the latter.

 

Obsessively dwelling on relatively minor details is what causes people to lash out at the shows they love, and I personally find that to be pretty sad...just look at what happened with CR: guy did this beautiful retrospective on the MLP franchise as a whole, but then totally turned sour and proclaimed the show dead after se03. I call douche.

 

Me, I judge a show/movie/game/book/whatever by the overall experience it delivers (I seem to be one of the few who wasn't at all bothered by se03 or AliTwi, for example), and I'm all the happier for it. Certainly gives me less to bitch about.

 

I will say, though, I did kind of inwardly groan at the thought of MLP doing a superhero-themed episode, as I'm just really not a fan of the superhero genre altogether (with a few exceptions). But as long as the character interactions remain cleverly written, I'll look past it.

But yeah, this episode looks awesome just from the references, and I'll adore it whether it's serious, hammy or a mix of both. Truly, screw the fans, man. If people want to walk into episodes to be critics and not fans, they can do so, because it's gotten to the point where people clearly aren't going to stop, so I'm going to ignore them, and cheekily make fun of them when the situation is appropriate to do so

I just read what the episode was going to be about. I think the idea of them traveling or somehow to a comic book world to be very interesting... Well I am not going to say anything about it till after I have watched it but it does sounds like it will be a good episode. Lets just wait and see huh?

That's why I'm glad I form my opinions about each episode based on characterization, not the storyline

 

The plot isn't the reason I love the show. (Well, it depends on which kind of "plot"...)

 

I fell in love with the show because of the ponies in it. The characters. I love the show because I love watching the characters.

 

Although I hold last week's episode in contempt because of how I view each episode, I can't wait to see what this episode has in store It looks fun.

After reading some of the criticism of past episodes, I'm sure there will be more. Even though I'm an avid comic reader, I understand that they're two separate mediums and will just enjoy it for the pony goodness.

There's been backlash, but I've seen more people say "This might be the best season yet" rather than "I hate this episode."

 

And the ones who have hated every episode have hated it for the wrong reasons (SUPER-DUPER Nitpickers have provided most of the complaints. Me? I just judge each episode by the character portrayal, and that's why I usually have good things to say about them this season, and in 1 & 2 )

As far as I have seen on YouTube and here and there on the forums, every episode after the premiere (and even the premiere itself, by some critics and "analysts") have been met with a cruelly generous amount of dislike and skepticism.  I unfortunately can't pull up anything specific at the time being, but I can say that if you go to Brony Curious or DigiBrony's channels, check out their reviews on the afore said episodes, and take a gander in the comments section, you will most likely see what I am talking about.

Honestly, this looks like it'll be the best episode of the season so far (Excluding the premiere). The last 3 episodes have been good, but also somewhat boring in my eyes. This one looks exciting, and I think it'll be a decent episode.

Exactly. There's no reason to be that super critical, but like I said in another thread, every fandom has that bunch. My thing is, if I don't enjoy an episode, I'll just skip it and move on to another. I'm not gonna take the time out of my live to display such pointless negativity, but rather hope the future brings better things.

I love analyzing the show, because that's the way I enjoy the show.

 

But there's the people who take it too far, and now, every time you go to Show Discussion, you'll see people label all of us, and say we need to chill and enjoy the show, because of them
