Diamond Tiara-Apparently Scootaloo is Disabled.

Before, I kind of brushed Diamond Tiara as just "those" bullies.I lumped her into the category of Babs Seed-I felt a little sorry. When I read stories, they typically make Diamond act like she's a Sociopath of some sorts, but after Flight to the Finish, its making me regret that sorry stance. 

 

Back stories don't make me feel sorry for her, for one reason: We learn she actually plans what she does to the CMC. It also doesn't help that she manages to CRUSH Scootaloo's spirit like a snap of the fingers over a competition.(So much so she was tossing out her prized scooter, something that she fought Spike for, lost in the forest, etc.) It was just really...creepy? I felt uncomfortable. She didn't care what she had caused-she pretty much wiped out anything that drove Scootaloo forward and gave no care to the fact she did that, even in the end, they didn't have a care. Silver Spoon was just as bad (cough cough) There lacked some sort of payback for something on that level.

 

 

Now, if you take a look on what a writer of MLP states on Twitter after the episode in response to 3 Scootaloo fans, then you compare them to the episode:

Now, all the ponies in Ponyville seem to know that she DOES in deed, have a disability, but it wasn't, of course...cared for. The ponies didn't care that she has this problem because it doesn't define her.This is why Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom acted the way they did towards the bullies. It was just...there. Rainbow Dash didn't even care, and she's built just on flying. Now, if you enter the fact this fact is common and not spoken about..

this doesn't give the pony a great view, does it? Its just the fact that she was so able to break a pony down in that way and commits time and energy into finding something to make them all miserable shows that she's a little bit..creepy. It also doesn't help she doesn't seem to know boundaries and will do anything in her power to get what she wants.  I find that really scary...

I think I can still accept Scootaloo even if she can't fly, I never really felt bad for Diamond Tiara and I never will now.  Diamond Tiara just loves being dramatic just to be the center of attention, Scootaloo can still do anything she puts her mind to.

 

Now you see why we do hate Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, at times. Usually, they would just say some insults but they did go too far this time.

But even some ponies give a flying feather about what they'll target. They didn't target Sweetie Belle-who doesn't do magic. They target Scootaloo. Its very.....scary in my opinion. To have that extent...it just....I can't help but view it as something Sociopathic. It was...very..scary to see her go attack something like THAT. I find it unsettling.

It never made much of a difference to me that Scootaloo couldn't fly, and before that, it probably didn't bug her too much either. What DT and SS did was brutal and cruel. When they made fun of her disability I cringed in horror. I actually never hated the duo before that; sure I found them annoying, but what they did dropped the very low in my rankings of the pony's.

But they could have done the same thing to Sweetie Belle and would still be effective. Plus, its been shown that...well, most pegasi fly at her age. In fact, even the 'bad fliers' like Flutters, still could, in deed fly, just never fly. Even then, we've seen the early bloomers XD (Season one, tiny tiny fillies flying to Luna, anypony?) Then again, Magic is MUCH more intensive than flying. Twilight and Rarity couldn't use magic at Sweetie's age. But, at the same age, Fluttershy, RD, tons of other ponies, can fly. ^^"

Keep in mind that DT and SS are children. Children can be innocent and sweet, but they can also be very selfish and mean-spirited little devils. It's not at all uncommon for kids who do/say horrible things to their fellows to grow up to be good people...and then they look back and realize how terrible the implications of their words and actions really were. Case in point, I went to a house party this last Halloween with my BFF, where we saw my coworker and his girlfriend. My BFF pulled me aside and told me "Dude, I bullied the SHIT out of that guy as a kid. I feel really bad now."

 

So yeah, bullying is always horrible and inexcusable, especially when directed at a disabled person - DT and SS did a very cruel thing to Scoots, no arguments here. But children and adults are wired quite differently, psychologically speaking. There're a lot of different factors that go into making a bully a bully, and it's almost never as simple as "they're just an awful person".

 

That said, you and others may feel that there is no redemption for these characters, but I respectfully disagree.

You know what else bothers me, is how they've been more focused on Scootaloo more than the other CMCs. Like maybe Applebloom's ability to build, or Sweetie Belle's singing. I was actually hoping Scoots got her cutie mark, because if they all got it on the same episode, there would be no more crusading for any of them....I think they should either give them Cuties on the final season of the series, or somewhere along the way...but seperate episodes.

Personal head-canon states that Diamond feels entitled to everything and as such, all should follow her whim and command. She is very vain but a sociopath? She is heinous at hiding emotions. I'd say Diamond Tiara is more along the lines megalomania with the ego that comes with it. 

I could very well imagine Diamond doing that, believing delusionally that she's the best even when she's beaten. This correlates with her Cutie Mark, a crown to symbolize her want for power

Buuut remember one of Scootaloo's over exaggerated assumptions, like what if her wings or too small and may never fly. So there is a huge chance that Scoots may never fly. (Not to burst anyone's bubble ) But at least we know her talent, and that is her Scooter.

Well while what DT and SS did was cruel, i don't think that it is something to qualify them as a sociopath or anything. 
 

DT And SS are just more stuck up and like being the center of attention, and being little fillies like children they will do many things to get what they want, many that are not right. Its just part of being a child, plus they might even be spoiled a little.

 

Still i'm sure they have their own insecurities to deal with and thats why they are bullying, thats the reason alot of bullies bully, and part of it could just be her childish ignorance at times.

 

Still, they're to young i think to put their cruel behavior to being a sociopath or something.

 

I personally wasn't super shocked when they started picking on Scootaloo, i mean they do that alot. Sure it was more cruel this time, but i didn't flip out or anything.

 

And i actually like Scootaloo not being able to fly, an odd thing to say, but it adds to her character i think.

The only thing that worries me is the fact they did add in a few things that were bound to stir commotion:

How come she has so much strength, much more than even Rainbow Dash, but she can't lift her body?

-She lifts up both Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle without much difficulty. (Nope, don't believe their montage was them doing things) All with a hoof each, no less.

-She did this...on a Scooter and standing on the scooter.

-She heaved said ponies halfway across Equestria. 

-When she did, she was FASTER than said train that had a huge head start. Even Rainbow never did that. All on the ground.

-She's also shown with supplies EARLIER in the series. 

 

She can't lift her body, being disabled, but...

 

She's a muscle head. Strong as, lets say, even any of the Apples.

what if the whole show goes with out ever showing her parents what right do you have to say she does?  Like even if you hear them talking off screen, or mentioned, like in ed, edd, and eddy.

 

their conspicuous by their absence.  as for abused I don't know anything about that so I'm not touching it with a 10 ft pool.
