The big companys are out there for the money! Period! Go bye yourself some indie games (the good ones) Those are people who are making games cause they are fun! ie. Papers Please! Go buy this now!

CoD and fans: CoD may as well be on the moon. They don't listen to there fan base at all.

EA and fans: EA will listen only if they feel like it and 99% of the time they don't.

Bethesda: Fans have a hotline with them practicaly

Indie: Fans are practically sitting next to the makers

Big companys are not listening to the gamers and are making the same games over and over again (with a few exceptions) Play CoD 1 then CoD Black Ops 2. Fairly simliar in mechanics and gameplay.

Aloha from sunny and/or rainy Hawaii!

Atlas: The fez-wearing adventurer

Hunter: The resident werewolf

Patches: The only doctor for the next ten miles

Well, of course big companies are out there for the money. They have to make a profit somehow and since the games that are being remade over and over again every year (*cough CallofDuty cough*", continue selling well, they're going to keep doing it. Don't blame the companies for making a profit, blame the fans for buying the same carbon copy of a game over and over again.

Thank you Wheatley, you read my mind! If everyone keeps buying the games, the companies have no incentive to innovate! Don't blame them, its a good business model.

Keep in mind plenty of people actually do ENJOY those big-budget games, and that's fine. Indie games wouldn't necessarily be a whole lot better if the developers were raking in millions, although it's a great way of showing appreciation.

It's true of most art industries; there's an "industry" section that caters to common demographics, and an indie scene that the enthusiasts enjoy. There's not necessarily any huge issues with those circumstances.

The problem is a lot of people actually buy those games, so while there are some companies that are tone deaf the companies making those games are listening to what a lot of people want. I agree that those examples are clearly overrated carbon copies and don't understand the appeal either but despite those games there are still plenty of  games out there both indie and mainstream that are actually pretty good. Yes the gaming companies are out to make money, I don't care about that so long as there are still plenty of good games out there which there is.

of course they're in it for the money. If they made games to the quality that they do and sell it at the price it was worth, they wouldn't make enough money to pay the electricity bill or feed their families.

let's be honest here they either make very little profit and have many fans or make enough money to live and make mediocre games at best.
