Killian Jones 2,655 March 4, 2012 Share March 4, 2012 Age restriction, would be an administrative waste of time. People lie about ages anyway. No matter what. Don't do it. I always will try to flag inappropriate content. Even things that are just too spammy. No drug use or violence or flaming. I would advise anyone to use common sense. At pretty much all times.
Marcato 2,143 March 4, 2012 Share March 4, 2012 (edited) Either way we have obviously clarified from both sides what is okay and what is not. Encouraging self harm is wrong Encouraging illegal drugs is WRONG Swearing is tolerated WE MUST BE CAREFUL WHAT WE SAY IN FRONT OF OTHERS. Both of sides of this argument can be seen in the right. Your opinion is half what determines it but there are some things simply not allowed. We need to be aware of the people that could possibly be reading your topics, so you need to watch what you say, but you may still talk about said things. If you are however encouraging illegal acts that is DOWNRIGHT WRONG. Moderators are here for that purpose and do there best to clear away all things related to illegal and inapropriate content. If they mis something that you feel should be romoved just report it. They will check it out and determine for themselves whether or not they should be dealt with. We all have our opinions but we must be careful which ones we encouraging and discourage. Edited March 4, 2012 by SilverArrow 1 ~Relax and enJOY life. Founder Twilight Sparkle ✨ 8,528 March 5, 2012 Founder Share March 5, 2012 RainbroDash, please stop stirring the flames. You got your point across, and the last two pages of this thread have been nothing but a back-and-forth between you and a couple of other members. Let me make this crystal-clear: civil discussion of just about anything is permitted on MLP Forums. I like to think that most of our members here can handle a mature discussion about illegal things like piracy, drugs, or suicide. Advocation of such things, however, is not okay. I realize this is a very fine line, but part of what makes MLP Forums interesting is its huge diversity of content (and the current survey really reflects that). If you guys want to have a mature discussion about something a bit darker than tie-dye talking ponies, I don't want to prevent you from doing so. We never "insta-ban" members because every case is different and a "one-size-fits-all" policy like that simply goes against what MLP Forums stands for. We will never introduce any kind of age restriction on this forum because: I would exclude myself from my own site - I'm only 16, you know. It is ridiculously easy to lie about your age on the Internet. I'm not going to waste my time collecting and verifying ID to ensure you aren't lying. This is, at the end of the day, a My Little Pony-themed forum. Seriously, there are better places to talk about things that truly should only be seen by adults. All I can really say is, if you see anything at all you believe to be inappropriate, disturbing, against a rule, pushing against a rule, or in a "grey zone", FILE A REPORT. The moderators will review it and act on the incident as needed. 9 Avatar credit: robinrain8 Signature credit: Kyoshi

Page.Turner 940 March 7, 2012 Share March 7, 2012 I think for the site's sake, a restricted forum would be the WORST business move. This is a free site and having such restrictions would put too much strain on the mods; more that they don't even need. I'm unsure of the actual account balance the site has aside from the donation pool and I don't exactly know what the site is paying for, but technology that monitors and restricts users might be costly. And, like it has been said before, there are easy ways around it. Not only that, but if a child goes on a thread not intended for their age and the parent finds out? It could be BIG trouble for our beloved community. We live in an age of technology and all of us have grown up with technology but we can't be 100% sure a kid would even know how to clear their history, let alone remember to. And with technology that records computer usage time? You can't come out clean with a simple wipe. Is it really so hard for some to control what they do on this site? We should all remember that this is a children's cartoon. The only reason it really has anything to do with adults is simple: the parents/guardians/etc are the ones who will have to sit in the room and watch it with their child (never leave a child unattended!) so the dialogue and plot and innuendos (the punch has been... Spiked!) are to help keep the adults entertained. It's a clever business, but it's just business. TL;DR Please respect yourself and the community! Treat others how you want to be treated and only YOU can prevent forest fires. 1 ...
