gaming What video game franchises need a reboot?

I never played Sonic 06, but I've heard a lot of things about it. Was it really that bad?

It's hilariously so. I'd say that makes it a blessing in disguise...(one of my favorite YTPs used the cutscenes from it )

I don't know if I would consider changes in gameplay style to be rebooting. The Sonic series has kept the same canon since the beginning so I wouldn't consider anything that's happened so far to be a reboot of any sort, merely a change in direction. Sonic Team is constantly changing the gameplay formula and I like that. It keeps the series fresh plus the fact that they stick with the same formula for a few games gives them the chance to improve on what they have before moving on. I don't know if they change it because they aren't satisfied with what's there or just to keep the series from stagnating but I definitely love when they do it.

 

But the story...they definitely could stand to start over. Too many elements that are reused too often. Shadow, for example. He was great in Adventure 2. I would go so far as to say he was great in his own game, but the ambiguity to his existence wasn't executed well nor is it explained even remotely well. He's essentially a permanent loose end at this point. We also haven't seen Knuckles in action since before Unleashed in the main games. (He was in Generations but only as a brief speaking role and a few side missions. That's it. No real story relevance. Why have characters in the game at all if you aren't actually going to use them?)

I would love to see more games like Brutal Legend with Jack Black. Or Earthbound. Stubbs the zombie would be cool too.

Bomberman could desperately use a reboot. I'm not talking about something like that Act Zerocrap either... but another full-fledged 3D adventure like his N64 days. The classic multiplayer could still be in place of course, but I say it's due time for another great Bomberman adventure.

I'd say I'd love to MAYBE see some Resident Evil reboot, maybe how Capcom did a success with rebooting Devil May Cry.

I mean, maybe they could add more interesting things to the plot, even if it isn't Capcom itself.

 

Or maybe Uncharted, though Uncharted 4, from what I've been hearing, could be a reboot itself, and Spyro isn't a bad idea.
