Anyone else sick and tired of Mare Do Well hate?

The main thing that annoys me is that, I feel like a lot of people hate on it just because they read about how everyone else hated it and they get influenced by that. I'm not saying it was my favorite episode ever, but if I said I thought it was the worst, that opinion wouldn't be my own. (I don't really have a least favorite for the record)

I don't care for the episode myself, which can most easily be explained by this comic poking fun at the episode, but I don't 'hate' upon it, nor do I see regular hate towards it. We've moved several seasons on from it, most people aren't going to talk about it unless they're referring to a specific event or, as others in this thread have pointed out, listing their favorite or least favorite episodes.

Actually I believe the entire point of Mare Do Well was to show Rainbow Dash that you can be a hero without being a overly-bragging cunt. It wasn't to make her feel bad at all. The entire reason so many people apparently hate it is because they misinterpreted the reason behind RD's friend's actions that episode.

While I'm not saying MMD was without flaws, I do think it's over hated by the fandom as introducing the first hero persona in Mare-Do-Well and whatever actions she took was fun, and the batman animated series and Darkwing Duck references were fun for me. Also, despite all the hate for being 'worst episode of series', it wasn't even the worst episode of season 2 as I believe 'Putting your Hoof Down' and what Fluttershy did to the citizens of ponyville and saying one of the most vicious insults ever uttered on the show towards Pinkie Pie and Rarity were way worse than egotistical and glory hogging Rainbow Dash of MMD.

No, because it's not as consistently hated on as it was a couple of years ago. And personally I think it deserves the hate it gets, it is absolutely terrible.

Hating on Williams herself is unnecessary. though. She's written some pretty good episodes, too.

I loved the Mare Do Well! I didn't even realize anypony had some hate towards it. Thought it was pretty cool.

Allow me to explain in the best form and shape I can do so:

RD's bitchy side, which, was a bit overdone, but not OOC, was put in the limelight in that episode; her cockiness was turned into more or less narcissism and she became a bit infatuated with her title of being a "hero," which grew to make many of the ponies around her irate with her behavior.

Now now now, my friend, this is the kicker; I don't like it when Rarity's bad side is displayed like that, which, is why I dislike Powell's episodes as much as I do. I'm sure the same can go for an equally, maybe moreso, aggressive fanbase when it comes to the topic of "best pony."

That's my only problem with the hate on this episode; I feel it to be extremely unjust, going as far to slam Merriwether's episodes just because her name appears on the writer's screen, because of the way a certain pony was portrayed in that episode.

Now, do I get a bit pissy and what not when I see Powell on the title card? Of course; but, there's a difference.

Williams no longer fucks up the implied character; Powell continues to fuck up Rarity (and, while her episodes won't be forgiven, I will forgive Powell herself as soon as she learns how to accurately portray my best pony instead of playing up her flaws for the lulz.)

This single episode has ruined Williams' reputation amongst the fandom, it seems; then, combine that with an aggressive and large fanbase who's best pony she made look super-bad, and that's my whole explanation for the hatred of this episode.

It was objectively average; it was subjectively awful, apparently enough to tarnish a writer's reputation out of what could be reasonable discontent with said character's portrayal at first, but soon turned into just being plain pettiness, in my honest opinion   -_-

I don't' really hate on it, it's just not one of my fave episodes. I mean they could've gone some other way of telling Dash to knock it off with her heroism stuff. It's probably my least fave Dash episode.

Ohhh okay. I get ya. Well nevertheless, that actually remains one if my favorite episodes. Not necessarily for RD's attitude, but Mare Do Well, at the least.

It used to be much stronger nearer to when the episode aired, but nowadays I just usually stay away from "Worst Episode" discussions because I know that the majority doesn't particularly like one of my favorite episodes. 'Tis not too bad.

To be honest I think that it was overhyped. People were excited to find out who Mare Do Well was and so when it turns out that it was the mane six people were so disappponted that they ignored all of its positives

How does Powell fuck up Rarity, other than in Sleepless in Ponyville (Which, honestly, considering how much Sweetie packed in Sisterhooves Social, a good amount of that stuff is likely hers anyway, and she did emotionally manipulate Rarity into going.)?  And don't bring me that "She gave the smallest gem to Spike in Just for Sidekicks" because that gem was able to buy an industrial sized pet hairdryer, due to smaller gems often being worth more, due to having less flaws.

It was okay, but I think the writers bashed Rainbow Dash a little too hard on this one, which is why it's getting quite a bit of hate.
