gaming Your reaction if Nintendo went third party

I will feel neutral about it.

If they will put it on tough consoles like PS4, PC, Xbox One...etc I am ok with it

But with their current net loss, they could put a possibility for micro transactions.

What is it with consoles and turning people into complete dicks? They're all brand spankin' new; you can't just go around saying "[x] HAS FAILED EVEN THOUGH IT HASN'T EVEN HAD A CHANCE YET, GUISE. I TOTALLY KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT." It's like... shut up. You aren't some kind of time-traveller that's seen the future and knows exactly how well these consoles will do in advance.

I wouldn't mind if they went third party. There'd only be two consoles to chose from, and I miss the days when new Nintendo games used your average controller as opposed to remote controls or touch screens.

Console wars have always brought out stupid insults.  Add the fact that there's no accountability on the internet, and the insulting rage reaches critical mass.

Capcom and EA have already proven that microtransations are not a solution to a publishers problems.

Nice try, but Nintendo still only spend a couple years in the red. It took a decade before going third party was profitable for Sega.

He's an arrogant prick.

You're an idiot. The Wii U sold that well in it's first month. Nice to know that when Microsoft is trying everything it can think of, it can just barely match Nintendo's sales when they aren't even trying.

And that isn't stupid enough for you, you have to tell me seriously that with NO GAMES coming out, the Xbox One is going to sell better than the Wii U. It's $200 more expensive! Not a chance. Especially with no games in comparison to these two:

Hope you enjoy a pointless passthrough for your cablebox, because that's all it will be for the next 10 months.

No titles? Titanfall, Watch_Dogs, Halo 5 (and possibly 2 Anniversary Edition), Black Ops 3, Rayman Legends, Metal Gear Solid, Destiny, and The Elder Scrolls Online say hi.

Also, look at the sales figures. If you are going to bash on the X1 for poor sales numbers, then bash Sony, too. Microsoft wasn't too far behind the PS4 in sales, and both will soon overtake what the Wii U has done, with about a year head start for the Wii U.

I like the Wii U. I really do. Though I wouldn't buy one, I see it as a good console, though you can't call it a commercial success, and you can't call Microsoft a failure for not beating the Wii U's numbers when Sony didn't even beat them.

And I must say, this is the most fun debate I've had in a while.

The whole, "Nintendo could make millions as a third party dev" thing seems to rest on the assumption that PS/XBOX/PC owners would be interested in their games. Let's face it, Nintendo doesn't cater to the same people as they do. Sure there may be a bunch of people on forums who say they would buy them on other consoles/PC, but they don't even come close to making up the majority of gamers.

Are they still publishing and developing games? Then I fail to see how it'd be any different than now except they won't have dedicated hardware for their games.

Most of those are multiplat and some are even cross-generational. Titanfall and maybe Halo are the only Xbone exclusive titles on that list.

Just to point that out. The question is not whether it has games, it's whether it has any games that give one a reason to buy it over the PS4, Wii-U, Vita and/or 3DS.

Never said they were. He/she said that there was no titles for it, and that it a nothing but a cable box for the next year.

Though, I do see your point.

Well, first of all, Halo 5 is the only game you listed that's an exclusive.  All the others will be available on superior and cheaper devices.  I mean superior and cheaper at the same time.  That's against the 6 exclusives Nintendo and Sony are sporting this year.  You really think the Wii U is the console we should be worried about?

As for the Xbox One being not far behind the PS4 in sales.  The PS4 sold 4.2 million units in it's first month.  The Xbox One failed to sell that many in TWO.  What world do you live in?

I didn't call the Xbox One a failure.  I just am pre-emptively demanding equal treatment.  Everyone that said the Wii U was a failure should say the same about the Xbox One.  Anyone who assumes that the Xbox One's sales will pick up when it has nothing to offer is delusional.  At least Nintendo fanboys had games they could claim would be console sellers, even if they obviously weren't.  Microsoft is asking use to pay $500 for something that might have awesome games next year.  I'll pass.

As I said above, I'm not referring to exclusives. I'm referring to the fact that you said that there is anything to play on the X1. While the Wii has the best exclusives, I personally don't play many games of that genre, and I like shooters and action/adventure games.

As for the sales figures, so far Microsoft has had a better December than Sony, even if total sales are lacking. I will admit, I was incorrect in my original post. X1 has sold 3 million copies in November.

The Wii U isn't a failure as a console. Like I said, I actually like the Wii U, I really do, but the numbers never lie. Wii U was a failure in terms of sales, and the X1 isn't out of the hole, as Sony sold 1.2 million more in November. I like all 3 consoles, but I'm holding off until further stating the X1 as a failure until I see more sales figures.

Personally, I own a PS3 and a Wii, but I will be buying an X1 this year. I like Twitch and the exclusives better.

I'd probably lose interest in modern video games completely. The Playstation 4 gets the bare minimum of my attention to make it worth keeping. I imagine once PS classics and some more interesting games like MGSV come out, I'll be more interested. I've never had the desire to own an Xbox 360 and the Xbox One is about the same to me. PC gaming isn't my thing nor is mobile. Steam Machines and micro consoles are a mess too.

I can give you a lot of reasons why a 3DS and Wii U are totally worth the money. The games are great and they are there, believe me. The Wii U has Super Mario 3D World, Wii Party U, Dr. Luigi, Wii Fit U, NES Remix, New Super Mario Bros. U, New Super Luigi U, Wii Sports Club, Pikmin 3, ZombiU, Nintendo Land, Art Academy, all of the original Wii games, Wii Virtual Console games, Wii U Virtual Console games, and Earthbound. The Miiverse blows the non-existent PS4 social networking out of the water. If you have another person in your house and only one TV, the Gamepad is awesome for off TV play and allows you to control your TV. The Wii Fit Meter is the perfect non-intrusive activity meter and all of the Wii accessories are compatible with the system.

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is coming out in a couple of weeks and it looks awesome. Mario Kart 8 is coming out in May and there's X, Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei, Super Smash Bros., Yarn Yoshi, Zelda, Hyrule Warriors, and more that will surely be confirmed in the next couple of months.

Nintendo will never go third party and there's no good reason to send the Wii U to an early grave. They have enough money from the Wii, DS, and 3DS to let them to do what they want. Iwata isn't going anywhere and neither is Reggie. It's not like they were going to make the Wii U always online or kill off used games. They make quality hardware with quality games that you can't get anywhere else. No micro transactions or DRM that plague modern gaming. No online fees either, although Playstation Plus is a great deal.
