" Oh that's horrible..." Renatus replied as he hugged the pony, staining himself in the process, "...Now don't cry. I'm sure they well find the Changeling that's responsible. Though how are you sure it's a Changeling?" he finished as he tried to comfort her. Even though he has had to kill to survive, he took no enjoyment from it.

"Well...Im not.." She hugged him back, a smile on her face "One of the men who came with me said it was a changling because it was a deep and crude blade, I have never done anything bad in my life, so i have no idea..." She sat back down and took a gulp "I wish i could find the changeling...I miss my mom"

He was especially concerned with the fact he could recognize that it was a Changeling blade, something only very few outside Changelings could do.

Sapphire looked at him I think his name was atlas, no idea though" She sighed and pulled out a book  "So your staying here?" She smiled slighty then frowned "By the way, whats new on the dinner today?" She opend her book and took a glance at it before looking back up

"Thanks." Renatus said, storing the name in the case he should ever met a pony called Atlas. When she asked him for what was new at the diner, he gave a sheepish smile as he replied, " Oh nothing much...you know the usual. Though I'm sure tomorrow we'll have something new."

Sapphire giggled "You guys were always really good at making new foods, I cant wait!" She smiled "Yeah, i think he could be really usefull if we ever find that changling.." Her smile faded as she though back to her mom "Well..." She sighed and looked back at her book "Nice meeting you"

Renatus smiled slightly as he saw the mare brighten slightly and said, " Yea we do and I hope we find the Changeling too. Also, I can't seem to remember your name for some reason, could you pass it by me again?" His smile faded however when the topic turned back to her dead mother. Still, she had provided him with some slight nourishment and he needed all he could get.

Sapphire smiled and said "Sure, my name is sapphire, whats yours?" She looked around, there were no other ponys around them, She looked at her book a few more times, then rememberd that she had forgotten all of her stuff at her house, -Oh well, it can wait- She smiled some more

He knew that there were no ponies around though it was still way to public for him to try anything. Maybe if I can get her alone....he wondered as he began thinking of a way he could get her alone.

Short circuit watched from afar. He did show them the inn. But what he saw baffled him.... Sapphire let her emotions out to him instantly...which wasn't in anyway understanding. Something was up, he didn't believe in changelings....but then again it would explain the recent events.

The mayor sat at his desk pondering what to do, the complaints of changeling sightings were coming in by the stacks now, Rye laid his head on his desk, this town had always been peaceful and there hadn't ever been any trouble, but now his town was at threat of danger and what could Rye do?

Renatus replied, his tone darkening towards the end but he quickly replaced it with a cheerful smile as he walked inside. Inwardly he eyed Sapphire like a predator would eye it's injured prey. So venerable...so ripe for the picking...all I need to do is bide my time...he thought as he waited for her to close the door. Though somewhere in his mind, something spoke as it often would before he took his next victim, telling him the morality of what he was doing. Though to preserve his sanity, he had shut out that voice long ago. This time however that voice spoke a bit louder than usual, just enough to plant a seed...

Ground Breaker watched from his chair coldly as sapphire and the newcomer had their sad exchange. He wasn't happy. He wasn't happy at all. Rumors of changelings in the town had been going on for the last couple weeks, ever since that stupid hive had attacked Canterlot. He swore that queen had to have been mad or stupid to jeopardize all other changeling hives like she had. The talk about changeling spies was all across Equestria but it had been nonsense in this town until now. Here was the actual news of a death in his town and some new changeling had come waltzing in to his territory. This was his feeding ground, he had been here for four years sucking off what love he could from travelers at his in and the loved ones that visited his assumed identity. Four years! He was not about to let some new drone ruin it for him.

 

He breathed out a terrible puff of smoke and glared at the ponies in his inn, "WELL?! You here to stand and gossip in my doorway or are you here for room or drink? Chess tables and games are for paying customers. I won't stand for unwelcome company." With the last sentence he focused his gaze on the changeling calling him out with his eyes.

Ignoring the...pony? From across the inn Renatus's smile was replaced with a determined grin as he entered her room and sat down across from Sapphire, staring quietly at his pieces as before making his first move. Though even as he moved his first piece he was already planning two moves ahead, his strategic and leadership skills coming into play. In the back of his mind he was still pondering about the "pony" who had talked to them earlier. He is most definitely not a pony though he not from my hive, could he be one of those rouges...he thought as he sat there​...could he be responsible for the murder?

Shadow Dust entered the inn. However there are many changelings in the town already and a random merchant is VERY 

suspicious. Luckily there was a pony alone in the inn. She entered the inn ready for a meal not knowing she was about to attack one

of her own.

Sapphire moved her rook, she was good at this game, but also very clumsy. She lost fast. "Dang, your bloody good at this game!" She said with a smile on her face. She pulled out a book and proped her head up on a pillow after putting it away "Anything else you want to do?"

Standing up from the cushion he said, " It's getting pretty late and I have a lot to do tomorrow...I think we should call it a night." As much as he wanted to stay and feed off Sapphire, he had other more important matters to content with. Mainly the Changeling back in the inn and that pony named Atlas.
