gaming Diablo 2 Thread

Sleipnir Rising

Recommended Posts

Being an old fan of Diablo 2, I thought that I should make a thread based on it. Here, we can discuss anything relative to Diablo 2. I'm sure that there are several Diablo fans out there.

I use to play the hell out of Diablo 2 back in the good old days when it first came out. I remember staying up late on several school nights playing it.  My highest level characters were a level 56 barbarian, along with a level 42 werewolf build druid. I didn't care much of reaching higher levels for my characters back then.

Anyway, to start off, when did you first started playing Diablo 2 and what kind of characters did you have?

Ahh the good old days of the best game of the series. I had many characters. I think my highest was a Druid level....80 somethin' I think. I lost that save sadly due to the fact I used that character with a mod that woulda broke him as soon as I went back to the standard game.

I was always a fan of the Paladin. He has this level 30 Aura spell that sends the dead up to heaven for health and mana. He can full heal himself in the middle of a massive battle without a second thought. And then there was Zeal, which I just replaced my normal attack with because it cost so little to cast that by the time I got it I could just use it ALL the time without hassle.

I always wanted to do a 4 player Diablo 2 campaign that was a Paladin, Druid, Necromancer and somebody else (Prefferably Mage or Barbarian), because every minion of both of the other two characters will be getting aura buffs. Imagine having fucking tons of skeletons and golems and vines and wolves and shit all with Thorns. That's terrifying.

Did anyone ever enjoy the Assassin?? I never got the hang of the Assassin or the Paladin.

I never actually got around to playing Assassin. From what I read though, She's far better with others than she is alone, unlike the Paladin who I'm pretty sure is op no matter what he does.

Yeah I failed pretty bad with both the Amazon and the Assassin. At least when I played the Paladin, I was able to figure out what I was doin'. I do prefer the Druid, Barbarian, and Mage.

Also, can we take a minute to admire this utterly horrible bastard?

Him.....I have no idea how many champions i've sent into his domain and lost. Far far too many...

Let's all not forget the beefy bad guy. (Who is way cooler than his female version in D3)

I always wished the Mage had his lightning attack.

Yeah the Diablo battle in this game was epic. Starts out by destroying WAVE after WAVE of undead, only to fight the man himself. His Bone Cage spell was a total pain though.

It's really nice coming back to that level though because casting Fist of the Heavens at such a high level will wipe out ALL the undead without issue, and it's cool as hell to see that.

I didn't think his Bone Cage spell was all too bad, as long as you weren't like right next to him. I loved takin' my Druid with my level 30 Grizzly Bear and just lettin' them him go 1 on 1 with Diablo.

I remember, when playing as a lightning sorceress, I would keep casting static field on Diablo. It was the quickest fight I ever had with Diablo. B)

Hmm I musta been doin' somthing wrong. Everytime I used Static Field on bosses, it did absolutely nothin'.

I was thinking of playing this game again as well. I'm currently looking around to buy the expansion, since I no longer own my original copy.

I believe that your enemies have to be within a certain radius for the skill to work.

I need to try to finish my characters that I have in my modded Diablo 2 before I go back to the original.

What mod were you using?

Ahh yeah that would make sense. I kinda don't like standin' within' poking distance to the monsters. I've been usin' the mod called "Median XL". Totally revamps Diablo 2. I need to download the newest version of the mod and see what's changed.

Speaking of Diablo 2 mods, what good mods out there increse the amount of weapon effects?

One effect I don't think I ever saw was increasing the radius of spells and auras, or for preventing or reducing life/mana steal.

Hmm...i'm not sure. I've only ever played 2 different mods for Diablo 2. And then i've never payed attention to the amount of weapon effects. Hmm....There might be a simple weapon mod out there that might alter weapons or spell effects.
